Supremes uphold gun rights

It’s good they did it, overturning D.C.’s ban on handguns, though they didn’t overturn Chicago’s ban on handguns. Their decision upholds the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution’s creation of a right for individuals to "keep and bear arms" against any limitation by the federal government, and D.C. is a federal creature while Chicago is not. Yet the fact that the decision was just 5-4 is shocking and worrisome, and the common headline (such as this one by the ever clueless Associated Mess) reporting the decision, suggesting that the Supremes have created a new right, would be laughable if they weren’t indicative of so much ignorance. Not just abroad, where ignorance of our laws is to be expected, but here at home, where it should not be.

No-guns Obama

Well, almost no guns. His issues statements on his Web site specifically allow for guns for hunting and target shooting. But there was a time, not long ago, when he was for banning all semi-atuomatic weapons, and he’s still affiliated with groups out to completely ban handguns for the law-abiding. More free-fire zones for the criminals, that’s the ticket. Not that any of this is likely to become known during his "Hope!" and "Change!" revival and marketing campaign. Nor, sadly, is the partisan MSM likely to ask about it. We can only hope that McCain does. Then maybe we’ll see if "Yes We Can!" means what Barry’s past suggests it will be: a full-court presidential assault on the Second Amendment.

The so-called United Nations

Better known, increasingly, as the Dictator’s Club: "…the world’s most pretentious, self-serving and corrupt organization…" A one-year-old plea (worth rereading) to take care of Iran’s nuclear reactor because it’s quite clear that the UN will never do a thing about it. Well?

MORE: Not surprisingly, the club wants to take away your right to defend yourself. Afterall, how can a dictator be assured of perpetual reign if his victims have guns in their homes? But Fred Thompson, for one, is fighting back to preserve the Second Amendment.
