What with all the taking of the Fifth by IRS officials in testimony before Congress, including two who had to be subpoenaed because they wouldn’t appear voluntarily, Ed Morrissey wants to clean house.
“…the IRS, which has demonstrated that it cannot provide accountability for the great power it wields now, let alone the power it will wield as Obamacare comes into force [or, more likely, farce]….is too large, too intrusive, too costly, and too insular – which means that it’s a microcosm of all the problems we have long predicted about big government.”
He wants to scale it back, thereby limiting its potential for political abuse. But it would still remain almost 90 percent Democrat. And the alphabet snooze media and big newspapers would still cover for it a hundred percent of the time.
Which are the main two reasons why I’m with Ted Cruz in wanting the IRS to be abolished.

Let’s keep dreaming. It will need a revolution, which is always a bloody business. And then revolution needs a lot of money, and who but IRS to bring it?
It need not be bloody. All it would take would be a significant number of people refusing to cooperate. Not failing to file, which would be criminal, but going to barter or off-the-books business. That and some political guts for a change. Yes, we’ll keep dreaming.
