Texas vs. Sam Houston State

There’s a certain amount of embarrassment in Austin about tonight’s game (6 p.m. CDT) against weak I-AA Sam Houston State, but it was arranged several years ago, before the Longhorns ascended to the national championship. Next week’s game against 16th-ranked Oklahoma at the Cotton Bowl will involve a more fitting opponent. All the Horns have to do today is not get their starters injured, and the easiest way to do that? Get out well ahead early and then let the second and third teams take over. At least we may get to see more of backup QB Jevan Snead. Burnt Orange Nation is already looking ahead.
