Gov. Perry to Department of Public Safety, i.e. the state police: “…you are directed to plan and execute a surge operation of increased law enforcement in Texas border counties” to handle the growing numbers of illegals crossing the Rio Grande and the drugs and other lawlessness appending.
AG Abbott and Lt. Gov. Dewhurst have chimed in with their own directives.
I guess we won’t be seeing the usual number of state troopers on the highways for a while. They’ll all be down in the Valley, doing the job the feds and their Democrat overseers refuse to do—hoping for a surge in new voters this fall, no doubt. If they can quash voter i.d. in the meantime.
UPDATE: Our tax dollars at work. Flying some of them to Massachusetts, yeah. Now that I can get behind.
MORE: DPS boss explains what the surge is up: “Since October more than 52,000 unaccompanied children have crossed the border illegally. McCraw says the feds are not doing their job of securing the border. It’s a situation the Mexican cartels are leveraging.”

I think the Surge is political whitewash. After which, Rick can say ‘Yeah, I had to step up because Washington let you good Texas folks down -again.’ All Political tripe to make feel good with the uninformed voter.
Little they can do to stem the tide now that the gates are flung wide open. This whole DREAM act business started over a year ago and the surge has been building since.
And you are right, the voter rolls in 2014 and ’16 are gonna be fat.
I feel like Andy is more or less correct – but I’m going to Houston today, and if I don’t see a bunch of state bulls on the road, I’m gonna be happy, regardless.
The waves of illegals, presumably coming for the anticipated “amesty,” certainly are real. Otherwise it’s all politics. But if the Democrat feds won’t do anything and they won’t, Rick, Dewhurst, Abbott and the DPS are about all that can.
Now I hear talk about the National Guard heading that way. Maybe if they lined up arm’s length along the bank it would stem the tide. Otherwise, not so much. It is a human tidal wave Dick and every facility within 2 hours of the border is inundated with kids and moms. They are giving them a notice to appear before an immigration judge in 90 days and a bus ticket. I cannot imagine a more inane plan.
Notice how the fed announcement of the plan (using someone else’s guard) came after Rick’s “surge.” It’s a phony, of course. A “pretend” plan. The Democrats want ’em all, they don’t want to stop any of ’em.
One assertion being put forth is the mass of illegals is going to be interred at FEMA camps which proliferate in the Border States. The plan is being touted as a ‘win-win’. They get to tuck the hordes into centralized locations AND they get to test drive the FEMA concentration camps at the same time. Hey, gotta love it, right?
Sez on Fox today the feds are flying them from the Valley to Arizona and California. Allegedly to detain them there. In Arizona they apparently dropped them off at a bus station. Probably with tickets north, as some are winding up in Pennsylvania and New York. The deeper they get into the country, the harder it is to make them go home.
