Flashes back, once again, to the Civil War era – when they didn’t want any black folks coming into the northern states.
Well, except for the ones on the Underground Railway, though that was pre-war. Things got nastier after emancipation, North and South. Reminds me of their furor over busing for integration in the 1970s, though I couldn’t blame them for that stupid policy.. .
As for the Underground Railroad, it didn’t terminate in the northern states. Oh no, they passed them on to Canada. An early form of NIMBY.
And Massachusetts is already pretty ticked about all the Somali refugees that are settling in the area. Yeah, it’s great to be all open-hearted about these things when you expect that someone else will take up the burden.
