Iran pushing troops to Israel border

While Barry and Lurch dither, in their fantasy of turning Iran from foe to friend, the Iranian mullahs are massing more than 100,000 troops on the Syrian Golan, Israel’s northeastern border.

“In deploying directly on Israel’s border, Iran has effectively become a country neighboring Israel, despite being geographically distant, while Syria and Lebanon have become components in a broader Iran-led regional resistance entity bordering Israel.”

Never mind a future Iranian nuclear threat, there’s a conventional one right now.

  1. As long as the Obama administration has the US as a de facto ally of Iran in Syria and Iraq (re: the nice new air force we’ve given Iran) then Israel has more than a big problem with the appearance of Iran at it’s border. All sorts of mischief can be done by Obama. How about a no “fly zone” along the Golan declared by Obama to “facilitate” the fight against ISIS, but enforce in fact only against Israel, and that’s just for starters. Israel had better at the minimum destroy this ground force coming their way and shoot down a bunch of Syrian air assets now.

  2. How about a link to a story about ” the nice new air force we’ve given Iran”?
    I can’t find a thing on that.

  3. Stanley, alot of the recent US air strikes have been unofficially coordinated with IRG and Shia militia. There also have been reports of Iranian air activity over Iraq near where US air operations were occuring. I think it’s part of the O’s administration effort to get a signed nuke deal. I just can’t provide linkage, so in essence yes it’s hearsay rumor. All I can say is keep your eyes peeled on the subject. I’ll admit the ” the nice new air force we’ve given Iran”?, is somewhat purple prose, not that I would ever do that.

  4. I did find a piece essentially implying that we were giving them parts for their old Phantom F-4s which they’ve had since the late 70s under the Shah and are using to bomb ISIS now. They’d be no match for the IAF’s stretch F-16s, however. With the current Bibi-O dispute I doubt Israel would go along with any restrictions. We’ll have to wait and see.

  5. I’m rather more interested in the Iranian ground forces bordering the Israeli Golan. Ground troops are more likely to be decisive, even to the extent of downing aircraft.
