GWB had class. Obama? None

Back in 2002 when American troops were dying in Afghanistan, GWB was criticized for golfing while the troops fought. Bush’s response? He gave up golf, saying:

“I don’t want some mom whose son may have recently died to see the commander-in-chief playing golf… I feel I owe it to the families to be in solidarity as best as I can with them. And I think playing golf during a war just sends the wrong message.”

These days Uncle Barry keeps right on golfing. The media is so much in the tank for him that he’s not criticized for that or much of anything else. So does he volunteer to give up golf on his own? Would Queen Michelle give up her expensive vacations?

Even the Dalai Lama prefers GWB.

Blame the military AND the media

Michael Yon correctly lays blame for the latest Afghanistan photo scandal on the soldier(s) who took the snapshots and made sure the Los Angeles Times got hold of them. Hard to fault that logic.

But Yon absolves the media in the fiasco, which is ridiculous. The LATimes didn’t have to use the photos. They knew the furor they would cause, especially in Afghanistan and the additional problems they would present for US policy there. But our modern media sheep (usually led by the NYTimes) have no sense of responsibility. And they never miss a chance to make our military look bad.

Muslim countries have lower rates of adultery

The real “war on women” is not a Republican thing as the Obama Democrats pretend. As you can see, it is a Muslim thing. The latest development is in Afghanistan, also known as the backside of the moon.

How ’bout we assume he’s innocent until proven guilty

Whoa, now there’s a concept. Not that Army Staff Sergeant Robert Bales is getting access to it, at least not in the biased news media, or from our frequently-lying Muslim “ally” Hamid Karzai, the president of Afcrapistan.

I am impressed that Obozo is not piling on. Although it’s probably because he knows he’s about two ticks away from being blamed for the mass murder Bales allegedly committed, as Bush Jr. certainly would have been blamed by now by the same media and pundits who always rush to judgement. Especially if it’s about a soldier. And frequently get it wrong.

Where’s the benefit of the doubt they always give to the alleged Muslim murderers, like the clown who was convicted of will finally be tried in June for shooting up Fort Hood in 2009 in front of many witnesses? Oh, excuse me, Bales is a white guy.

As a former retired prosecutor friend puts it: “…until…all the facts come out (if they ever do) in the wash, I’m going to reserve my personal judgment as to whether this was a ‘coldly plotted execution of children and unarmed civilians,’ a good person having suddenly gone off the deep end as his brain short-circuited, or something in between.

“My experience has taught me that the third alternative is usually the most likely.”

At least we’ll have the judgement of a court, as provided by the Constitution and military law, rather than “progressive” bloggers, the editorial page and the talking-head circus.

UPDATE:  Some of Bales’ active-duty military colleagues also are calling for wait-and-see.

Obozo and Mooch would rather par-tay

Incredibly, more than three months after at least one American combat soldier died unnecessarily and two months after the issue was first raised on the Net, wounded American troops in Afghanistan still are waiting longer than necessary for Medevac helicopters to arrive.

Because the Medevacs wear red crosses and, therefore, under Army policy cannot carry defensive guns. So the medical birds have to wait for gunships to escort them and, sometimes, the gunships are busy.

Would seem simple enough. Remove the red crosses, which only aggravate the Muslim enemy (not to mention the Muslim allies), and mount defensive guns and gunners.

Too hard for the modern Army to grasp, apparently. (Similar to their refusal to stop driving Humvees on mined roads in Iraq.) Even though, as war correspondent Michael Yon notes, our medics are not adorned with red crosses (as they were in World War II) and they do carry rifles.

Obozo, of course, could have already solved the Medevac problem with a phone call. But it seems he’s too busy playing golf, or else following Mooch and the children around for ice cream and so forth on their latest taxpayer-paid vacation. What a commander-in-chief, right? Yeah.

Afghanistan: Death by politics

The death of an American soldier due to our Medevac policy:

“Specialist Chazray Clark was dying due to politics, and the Army and Air Force pilots are very angry about this.  Chazray’s is not the only such case…It is important to be absolutely clear–this is not about the Dustoff pilots and crews, who are incredibly courageous.

“They have earned enormous respect.  They’ll fly into hell to get one of our wounded troopers.  This is about politics getting in the way of saving lives…The General in charge of this fiasco needs to be fired.”

More from embedded correspondent Michael Yon.

Obamalot could remedy this with a phone call, and damn well better.

Unarmed Medevacs arriving late

Incredible report from Afghanistan correspondent Michael Yon that our Army Medevacs are delayed in getting to their patients (find it in the first four minutes of this Glenn Reynolds interview with Yon).

Delayed, that is, because they have to wait for Apache gunship escorts. Not because the landing zones are especially hot but because the Medevacs wear Red Crosses and the Geneva Convention doesn’t allow them to carry defensive guns.

Jeeze, Louise. All our Medevacs in I Corps in Viet Nam in 1969 wore Red Crosses and always carried door guns. The enemy there had no more respect for Red Crosses than the Taliban does now. So much for progress, eh? Visit Michael’s web site and consider helping defray his expenses so he can continue to tell these stories that are NOT being told elsewhere. I do and have for years now.
