Boo-hoo Barney, and boo-boo Boxer

Glad the Reps have the House back (after the lame-duck Dems first ram through more trash spending and onerous regulations) but, really, are Massachusetts voters that stupid they had to re-elect Barney “The Whiner” Frank?

Guess so. And San Francisco voters Barbara Boxer? That one doesn’t surprise me. There’s always next time, as I do believe this Tea Party throw-the-bums out push will continue. Including the bums who won this time if they keep spending big bucks and passing more oppressive big-government regulations.

UPDATE:  In addition to being a disheveled jerk, Boston’s favorite butt boy is also a crook:

“This summer, the paper reported a controversial taxpayer bailout Frank arranged for a Boston bank at the center of an ethics scandal involving disgraced California congresswoman Maxine Waters, disgraced ex-state Sen. Diane Wilkerson and a disgraced banker arrested on rape and cocaine charges.

“Then there was Frank’s trip to the Virgin Islands aboard a private jet owned by a bailout billionaire. And the $40,000 his campaign took from bailout banks after he promised not to. And finally, there was the Herald video capture of Frank’s partner taunting Sean Bielat after a debate.”

No surprises here.

NPR objective? Only if you’re a liberal.

The recent NPR firing of conservative Juan Williams was just fresh icing on a stale cake. PajamasMedia has a good piece of analysis of the tax-supported elitists who pretend to speak the truth.

“Neither Beck nor a single one of his supporters appeared on the [critical-of-Beck] show, an omission that appeared to be motivated more by journalistic laziness and a lack of intellectual curiosity than anything else….Put simply, liberals constitute the one subculture in the United States that consistently and often willfully mistakes its specific and particular preferences for universal truths.”

Master and slave, not comrades in arms

400BlackConfederatesOne of the saddest Civil War photos I’ve ever seen, simply because it illustrates as no other the worst of the master-slave relationship. The cocky young seated aristo, one Lt. J. Wallace Comer of the 57th Alabama Regiment. The standing slave, Burrell, lately touted as a Confederate soldier because of the private’s tunic he wears, is curiously unarmed. Not so curious, really. Their expressions say it all. Burrell is a slave, not Comer’s comrade in arms.

Bending over for Islam

I love this remark by Glenn Reynolds referring to American liberal academia perpetually bending over for Islam.

“…attacking those whom they need not fear, while fearing those whom they do not criticize.”

Fits the movie industry and the legacy Western news media as well.

Meanwhile, Germany is finally seeing the light (the one on the immigrant Muslim train at the end of the Bavarian tunnel), at least in their political talk.

More friends of Daniel Pearl

Today “is the birthday of Daniel Pearl, the Jewish-American reporter-musician who was kidnapped and murdered by Islamist Terrorists in Pakistan in early 2002.

In his memory every October since then has been Daniel Pearl World Music Days sponsored by the Daniel Pearl Foundation, run by Daniel’s parents, Judah and Ruth. This year there are more than 1400 events scheduled in more than 60 countries around the world.”

There were two events in Austin, both unfortunately past. One was Oct. 1 at the Green Mesquite and the other was Oct. 6 at Threadgill’s. You might consider patronizing those restaurants as a thank-you, though I do not recommend the BBQ at Green Mesquite. But they do have other good eats. Anything at Threadgill’s is worth your money.

The only listings in Texas on today’s anniversary of Daniel’s birth seem to be in Denton, northwest of Dallas, where the University of North Texas College of Music is dedicating all of its musical events for the month to him. Elsewhere, go to http://www.danielpearlmusicdays.org/events.php and search for yourself.

Radical Islam is older than dirt

It  is a misfortune to human nature when religion is given by a conqueror. The Mahometan religion, which speaks only by the sword, acts still upon men with that destructive spirit with which it was founded.” Montesquieu 1639-1755

It’s biggerize, biggerize, people

Seems the lexicographers are all aflutter that “embiggen” is seeping into mainstream usage. It should be “biggerize,” I tell you. Mr. B.’s biggerize is the natural opposite of “minimize.” Embiggen is completely out of left field.
