Trigger Warning

I should probably make the headline a permanent sidebar hereabouts ( like the Everlasting Phelps did) for the precious little buttercups who might be, gasp, offended by something here. Altho the “I (heart) Israel” notice might be enuff.

I have to admit I always thought a trigger warning was a) not to put your finger on the trigger until you intended to fire the gun or b) to be prepared to be shot when you saw someone else’s finger on the trigger of a gun pointed at you. I guess you had to go to Leftist schools like UC Berkeley to know better. Live and learn.

The army that’s bigger than China’s

Remington 700

And, oh by the way, Wormtongue and his political party have succeeded in driving many of the country’s gun makers to the South, where they belong. Which, as it happens, is where a good many (if not most) of that army bigger than China’s resides.

Bet you didn’t know that the original Mr. Remington’s first name was Eliphalet. The company is keeping its HQ in New York State but, thanks to the Democrat governor’s inane anti-gun stance, is sending 2,000 jobs to Alabama. Yee Haw!

UPDATE:  The killer was a 34-year-old Spec 4. That’s a lot of years for such a low rank. He either joined late, never deserved promotion or got busted along the way.

And, no, I don’t think allowing non-police soldiers to carry loaded weapons on post is a good idea. Investing in a few metal-detector wands for every person and car that passes through the gates would be a better one.

Pushing back twice as hard

“Tensions continue to rise in Connecticut, as the home addresses of the legislators who voted for the [“assault” weapons] ban have been posted on numerous web sites and forums. Many of the legislators are now calling for police protective details, regarding the publication of their home addresses as a threat to their safety.”

This could become a “teaching moment” for pols elsewhere with the same plans to please their anti-gun supporters by disregarding the Constitution.

Our new gun-controlling surgeon general

With Obamalot, it’s politics all the way down. Comes now a young (36 years old) nominee for U.S. Surgeon General who would seem to have little medical experience. Ah, but he has plenty of the political kind and that’s what counts.

“Since 2008, Murthy has dedicated his career to achieving a political agenda, forming groups like Doctors for America, which has lobbied heavily for ObamaCare. Miraculously enough, that political campaign seems to have now paid off and earned him this nomination.”

Bet that’s one non-profit the IRS didn’t harass. Apparently Murthy also is a prominent anti-gunner, which is why the NRA opposes his nomination:

“A recent letter sent to Congress by ‘Doctors for America,’ and signed by Dr. Murthy, urges mandatory licensing ‘for anyone purchasing guns and ammunition—including mandatory firearm safety training and testing.’  Under Dr. Murthy’s scheme, further regulations would place ‘limits on the purchase of ammunition,’ and establish a ‘mandatory waiting period of at least 48 hours.'”

Gee, now why do I think this guy is being nominated primarily to help promote more federal gun control? At a time when thousands of gun owners in New York and Connecticut already are risking their lives defying  new state gun-registration laws. As Maryland‘s anti-gunner legislature considers a gun-confiscation scheme. And a nascent pushback from the police gets under way.

UPDATE:  Well, that’s a relief. The nomination is “troubled” and even the White House, whose principal occupant’s approval is down in 30s percent, is backing off on pushing Murthy. Under the bus with him!

Our predatory police

Four months after the Capitol police and Secret Service murdered Miriam Carey, in daylight on D.C. streets, her family’s lawyers have notified the feds they will sue for $75 million.

It won’t bring the 34-year-old mother back to her toddler daughter who narrowly escaped death from a police frenzy.

Most shocking of all is that the Democrat White House’s so-called “justice” department, along with D.C.’s Democrat newspaper—once lauded in story and film but now derisively known as the WaPo—are still mum about the murdered black mom.

Being big, male and Hispanic didn’t help Luis Rodriguez in Oklahoma when five members of the badge gang decided to go berserk. As their defenders put it, cops sometimes have to make snap decisions. We’re seeing a lot of snap decisions lately: cops shooting first, asking questions later, if there’s anyone left alive to ask.

UPDATE:  They’re ridiculously touchy, too. Chicago 13-year-old gets felony charge for hitting cop in shoulder with, wait for it, a snowball.

The new culture war

Sultan Knish (Daniel Greenfield) is one of my favorite bloggers and he’s got a good plan for how us individuals can combat the leftist takeover of government, news media, Hollywood and academia.

“The first stage of a culture war is to cease supporting the enemy. The second stage is to push back by building up your institutions that make your way of life possible. The third stage is to use those institutions against the enemy.”

In other words, the Sultan means we should stop buying the left’s newspapers and stop watching their news shows and movies and tuning into NPR-PBS and “leaving products with environmentalist tripe on the packaging on the shelf.”

Read the Sultan, Instapundit, Breitbart, and PJMedia, and patronize Fox News and the libertarian radio talker of your choice, if you’re so inclined. You could also stop attending that leftist church or synagogue. There are conservative ones available.

The left’s newspapers already are losing money and that can be extended to the other lefty news outlets some of which, like MSNBC, are said to be nearly broke. Hollywood could be wiped out by a good boycott of a dozen or so of their movies for several years running. Academia will be harder to turn but there’s already a significant trend to questioning whether a high-dollar college degree is worth it for finding a good job—it sure isn’t if you major in the so-called humanities.

The Sultan is right when he says voting simply ain’t gonna get it any more.

“Even if Republicans were to win the White House and dominate the House and the Senate, they would still face a totalitarian entity whose judges would make laws, whose media would subvert democracy, whose educational institutions and entertainment industry would reprogram the people and whose bureaucracy would undermine any decision that it did not like.”

We don’t even have a genuine two-party system anymore. Just one party, the leftist Dems and the Rhino right combined and in agreement more often than not. The Tea Party is too old and middle class and not only is being pummeled by the leftist media but is undercut by the Republican establishment as well. It’s gottta be a culture fight.

The Sultan does worry about people taking to the streets, a la Cairo and Ukraine. I doubt it very much. Even us disgruntled Americans are too comfortable to risk it all like that. And, besides, passive resistance works wonders. Millions are still refusing to sign up for ObamaCare. Even in Yankeeland Connecticut, thousands are refusing to register their guns and the state is just about powerless to do anything about it.

As Instapundit says: ” I love the people who say you could never deport all the illegals, but who think you could lock up all the gun owners.”
