Trigger Warning

I should probably make the headline a permanent sidebar hereabouts ( like the Everlasting Phelps did) for the precious little buttercups who might be, gasp, offended by something here. Altho the “I (heart) Israel” notice might be enuff.

I have to admit I always thought a trigger warning was a) not to put your finger on the trigger until you intended to fire the gun or b) to be prepared to be shot when you saw someone else’s finger on the trigger of a gun pointed at you. I guess you had to go to Leftist schools like UC Berkeley to know better. Live and learn.

Israel’s flying car

It’s more likely to have military uses (Medevacs and ammo resupply) than civilian ones, at least in the immediate future. But, still.

One of the oldest dreams of “the future,” the flying car, is on the way. It’s pretty bright ahead. Better put on your shades.

Public school politics

I was amazed when Mr. B.’s first grade Austin teacher back in 2006 launched into a week-long lesson on the dangers of global warming. He was already so frightened of cigarettes, thanks to the school system, that he wouldn’t get in the car until I hid my pack of Salems in the glove box.

So this report of a California (where else) public school requiring eighth graders to write essays questioning whether the Holocaust (the systematic, in fact industrialized, Nazi murder of six million Jews and millions of others) was an “actual event” is not a surprise.

Nor is the name of the school superintendent: Mohammed Z. Islam. Fortunately some adult complained and the essays are no longer required. We can thank Gen., later President, Eisenhower for what we know of the Holocaust. He saw the future clearly.

Pity the public schools everywhere couldn’t be cleansed of these political creatures who call themselves educators.

Happy Passover – חג חרות שמח!

Passover1a

Still my favorite. Moshe Transports, indeed. Note the sailboat at left.

UPDATE:  A Pesach joke from Lynn T., a commenter at Simply Jews: A man is about to enjoy his Pesach snack of matzoh on a park bench on which a blind man is seated. In the spirit of the holiday, he offers the blind man a piece. The blind man passes his fingers gently over the surface of the matzoh and asks “Who wrote this?” Heh.

Beating on a teakettle

Miriam compares her grandmother’s Yiddish to “No Blood for Oil” and yelling “Racism” at anyone who criticizes Obamalot (more now than ever before).

“This is what bubbe called ‘hocking a chinek,’ which I discovered after arduous research, means, beating on a teakettle…”

I’m not sure why, but beating on a teakettle makes me think we’re all good and truly doomed. I knew we were in trouble before, but this just makes it  a whole lot worse.

Guarding the matzoh

My condolences to the families of the slain. The mood at the local grocery this afternoon, as two score or more of us shopped for Passover, was uncharacteristically somber. And, for the first time in my memory, there was an armed Austin police officer seemingly guarding the matzoh. He smiled. Said he just happened to be standing near the shelves the boxes were on.

Either the store hired him off-duty or the city sent him, after what happened in the parking lot of the JCC in Kansas City. It would be more difficult for that to go down here. Our JCC is fenced and its entrance is guarded, unlike the one in KC, at least according to the pictures I saw. Perhaps this will help them remedy that. It’s always wise to expect the best but to prepare for the worst.

But the grocery is neither fenced nor normally guarded. So it was nice to see the armed officer guarding the matzoh. “Take care,” he said, as I left. “You, too,” I replied.

Human rights at the Dictator’s Club

No such notice for the starving millions of North Korea, nor the dying in Syria or the oppressed of Iran and Saudi Arabia. Nope. But five (count ’em) five anti-Israel resolutions in one day.

“Paula Shcriefer, the US representative to the UN’s Human Rights Council, …noted that ‘none of the world’s worst human rights violators, some of whom are the objects of resolutions at this session have their own stand alone agenda item at this council,” and emphasized that “only Israel, a vibrant and open democracy, received such treatment.'”

It’s the democracy part that really gets to the Dictator’s Club. Also the Jooz.
