Jewish Highland Park the target

Accused mass shooter Bobby Crimo “also attempted a rehearsal of the July 4 shooting weeks earlier when he tried to enter a Highland Park synagogue during Passover just two blocks from where he ultimately attacked the parade. He was forcibly asked to leave by the temple’s armed security. He is a manifestation of all the left stands for, including wokeness, gender fluidity, and anti-Semitism.”

Glad to hear the synagogue had armed security, but many of them do nowadays.

UPDATE: Meanwhile, in Israel, a Jewish family was massacred at Shabbat dinner.

The Uvalde cops waited

Tony Plohetski, an investigative reporter for the Austin-American Statesman [& KVUE], tweeted a picture showing [Uvalde] police stationed outside the classroom where more than a dozen children were murdered. The officers, armed with rifles and at least one ballistic shield, were in the hallway near the classroom at 11:52 a.m.—58 minutes before [federal Border Patrol cops] breached the locked classroom, and 19 minutes after the gunman entered the school. At 12:03 p.m. a second officer with a ballistic shield arrived, followed by a third a few minutes later.”

Utterly disgraceful behavior. Hardly protectors of the community, just bureaucrats with guns.

UPDATE: The Uvalde schools police chief has been put on administrative leave. Should be fired.

Uvalde chief says didn’t order waiting

Pete Arredondo, the bullet-headed Uvalde school police chief, says he never ordered a stand-down of school, city and Border Patrol cops and doesn’t know who did. The Beto supporter has lawyered up and is out of hiding for the first time since the massacre. He told the leftist Texas Tribune: “I didn’t issue any orders.”

As the highest-ranking officer at the scene, however, he would have been assumed to be in command. And instead of following protocol and moving to confront the shooter immediately, he delayed for more than an hour waiting for special tools to breach the locked classroom door. Couldn’t find a key. Didn’t know kids in the classroom were calling 911 begging for help for wounded classmates because he didn’t have his police radio with him. Didn’t anyone else have one? One wounded child bled out waiting and a teacher died of her wounds as well.

Be interesting to see if he’ll talk to anyone else, including other media not as leftist as the Tribune. But he has a lawyer now and is parsing his words carefully. Disgraceful.

UPDATE: Uvalde shows once again that cops are just armed bureaucrats.

Backing Biden’s asinine gun lies

It’ll be interesting to see if Matthew McConaughey’s Texas icon stock will now diminish, as Texas gun-owners stop paying attention to him now that he’s revealed himself as a gun grabber. As a Uvalde native he was in a perfect position to champion more funding for mental health services for teenagers such as the shooter who fill bags with cats for tossing in a river, but he never mentioned it. What he did say was the same old stuff that didn’t pass the Congress even when the Democrats were fully in charge and has about as much chance now.

Living with disgrace

The massacre story keeps changing and the Uvalde cops are getting death threats. While the apparent boss of bosses, the school district “chief” of police (all three of them, reportedly), is hiding at home being guarded by the city cops. All of whom have reportedly stopped cooperating with the state’s investigation of what and why and how. Small towns are so intriguing. And we still don’t know the name of the Border Patrol guy who killed the killer. And may never.

The Uvalde coverup begins

By the Uvalde cops, the school cops and anyone else who had a hand in waiting around until the killer did his work on nineteen kids and two teachers. In a town of only about 15,000 the coordination will be easy. Easier than Columbine or Parkland. We may never know the truth of what happened. Meanwhile, all but one Border Patrol cop are disgraced, whether they deserve it or not.

UPDATE: Even Biden doesn’t want them around for his photo op: “Despite the event being planned for a large open-space facility, administration officials cited space as a reason for the retracted invitations.” Ouch.

MORE: Uvalde city and school cops not cooperating with state investigation. What a shock.

The wrong decision

Texas DPS director Steve McGraw says with the benefit of hindsight, the Uvalde cops made the wrong decision not to interrupt what they thought was a barricaded situation instead of an active shooter one. They also held back a Border Patrol tactical team that quickly arrived and eventually was allowed to engage the shooter and kill him. But only after the 19 children and two teachers had been killed. Makes little sense given that the killer’s firing was going on throughout.
