It poured off and on for an hour or two, drenching some places around town with 1-3 inches, but not adding any water to our cabinet problem, making me wonder if maybe the neighbor’s craftsmen didn’t cause it, after all, by screwing up somehow.
Had visiting Mr. Boy get down and check out all the cabinet interiors for water but found none. His 20-year-old bod perfectly suited for such contortions which mine, at 76, can no longer venture without bone and muscle punishment.
Several downpours overnight has us worrying if the water will get into the kitchen cabinets again. Apparently not. Left the doors open to air them out. Then Checkers the cat got into the biggest one, all the way in the back, and sat there looking self-satisfied until I said it was okay and then he left. No wet paw prints evident.
Bar this morning spotted Mr. and Mrs. Cardinal shepherding three baby cardinals through the branches of nearby trees and briefly onto the tiles of the back porch. Checkers the cat, from the back of the sofa, was wishing they’d all go to hell, Bar surmised.
Lower kitchen cabinets have mildew growing on back wall shared with another apartment. And the remains of some standing water. We had a big storm the other night, so…
Got a plumber coming this afternoon to determine the source of the leak. Also Bugmaster returning tomorrow after we killed a black widow in the pantry closet.
Never a dull moment at the mini-Rancho. I thought we were done with fix-up, but no…
UPDATE: The plumber thinks it’s coming from next door and will try to contact them for a look-see. Meanwhile I summoned the property manager and will call my insurance company when the PM decides what to do.
MORE: PM’s plumber inspected and ruled out next door and seems to be turning to the idea of an exterior wall leak. Saw him take photos of the rock wall outside. Said any fix will have to go through the homeowner’s board. With more rain forecast this weekend. Time to call insurance?
Bar and I watched the six-bird formation flyover of Austin live yesterday on my smart phone, since the F-16 jets were too far south of the mini-rancho to see them otherwise.
Really cool. And so is this Aggie pilot’s clip of his in-formation, over-Austin video which we can presume from the unwavering picture wasn’t taken with a smart phone but some rig to let him concentrate on his dangerous formation flying. All that weight, all that power, in such close proximity.
