Don’t believe it? Big Sugar (far more insidious than the left’s favorite whipping post Big Oil) has done its best to hide that simple truth for decades.

At one time the ‘crats of the Agriculture Department went so far as to second the industry’s astounding claim that eating candy could help you lose weight. Even the feds couldn’t stomach that lie for long and it quietly disappeared with the next iteration of the food pyramid.

I struggle to avoid sugar. The stuff is every bit as addictive as tobacco and, for the unfortunate few, alcohol. But I keep being mindful of every cookie or spoonful of ice cream and long ago forswore sugar sodas altogether. Now they no longer even taste good to me.

Because for someone my age (68) the road to obesity and diabetes, probable amputation and definite death much sooner than I’d prefer, is paved with sugar. Fortunately others will soon be getting the message and those with will power can begin their struggle as well. We can’t count on the feds to help. The ‘crats and the pols were bought off by Big Sugar long ago.

He gets a certain amount of political capital from pissing on “the rich” (although $250,000 a year, where the higher rates will begin, is hardly rich) which seems, sadly, to still sucker in a majority of the American people.

They ought to know better by now. Many of them will reap the growth-killing unemployment.

But higher taxes also have a hidden agenda. As economist Daniel Mitchell with the Cato Institute says, they increase the opportunities for graft in D.C. via lobbyists seeking tax write-offs as well as boosting campaign contributions, and on and on.

“Yes, higher tax rates are bad for growth and competitiveness. And, yes, they are unfair and discriminatory.

“But they also foment and encourage sleaze in D.C., and that’s something that honest leftists should hate as much as the rest of us.”

An honest leftist. Hmm. There’s a thought. Seems like a contradiction in terms to me.

“Rice wasn’t making life-and-death decisions on Sept. 11, 2012, when the U.S. compound in the Libyan city of Benghazi came under attack; President Obama was. Rice, therefore, is unable to answer the all-important question about what order President Obama issued upon hearing that U.S. diplomats in Benghazi were under fire. She can’t look America in the eye and answer whether the U.S. military was ordered not to rescue Americans fighting for their lives.”

First the Petraeus distraction. Now the Rice one. When are we going to find out what Barry knew, when he knew it and what he did then? Ever?

Build, build, build those new homes

I’m still not sure just what the Pallys thought they would accomplish by getting the dictator’s club to give them a “state” in name only. Got their flag run up the pole out front, anyhow. But I do understand the Knesset’s decision to retaliate by cancelling the 10-month “peace process” freeze on construction of 3,000 new homes for Jews in Jerusalem and Samaria.

“Counter productive,” fumed Barry’s administration. Oh, boo-hoo. Hard cheese, I say. It’s about time Israel stopped worrying about the Pally backers and got down to business. The Pallys don’t care about peace (Abu Mazen never agreed to talk peace even once during the freeze) and they never will. They should all saddle up and ride east across the river to live in Jordan, since the Muslim Brotherhood likely will be taking over there in the spring. This new construction may help encourage their migration. As it should.

UPDATE: The “two-state solution” and the “peace process” have always been shams concocted for diplomatic purposes.  Their Western creators have always known very well that the Pallys don’t care about either one. The home building might be the last opportunity to make them real, though my preference would be for them to migrate east.

Ever seen them take down a mansion? Me neither. And I’m sure it’s only a coincidence that our latest president is a former dope smoker and coke snorter whose prep school buds also, somehow, managed to avoid arrest.

No, no, not the Windsors, the Obamas. King Barry and Queen Michelle and their two little princesses.

Our first Affirmative Action president, his Affirmative Action wife (how do you think these bozos got into Columbia, Princeton and Harvard?) and their soon-to-be Affirmative Action daughters. AA (which does not stand for Alcoholics Anonymous but probably should) means advancing to the front of every line for free. It’s a color deal, whitey, you wouldn’t understand.

A little more than half of you chumps voted for these layabouts (again), and the high-spending, high-taxing, high-unemployment they are guaranteed to bring for the next four years. So enjoy this and the rest of their vacations vicariously, on the front pages of the tabloids at your favorite supermarket’s checkout line. What with the rising cost of food, it’s the only way you will enjoy them a vacation. And you deserve it.

UPDATE:  While they’re gone, the royal family will leave behind 54 Xmas trees in the WH. One, obviously, wasn’t enough for your big spenders. Sure aren’t concerned about the national debt, are they? You’re surprised?
