Longhorns in the NFL

I knew there were a few of them out there: Colt, VY, Quan, Vasher, Jordan, etc. I had no idea there were forty-five. Thanks to the daily, we can all know them now.

Welcome rain

KVUERadar1911Most of the heavy rain is off to the east of I-35, but at least it’s clearing the air around the rancho of juniper pollen. Probably not for more than a day, tho’.

Cedar fever

I’m dyin’ and I ain’t lyin’. Thursday’s juniper (also called mountain cedar) pollen count was the highest of the season, according to KVUE, which makes daily pollen counts.

Seems like it’s been going on forever but it’s only been about two weeks. Pity of it is, the only sure cure for this allergy is to move elsewhere. Wish I could. But it’ll be over soon.

UPDATE:  Or, maybe not. Friday saw the highest juniper pollen count in seven years, KVUE reported. It’s supposed to rain Saturday afternoon into the evening. It better, or I may just decide to lay down and die.

Way to go, TCU

Texas Christian’s Horned Frogs beat the Wisconsin Badgers to win the Rose Bowl 21-19.

As the daily’s Ced Golden says: “TCU is one of the big boys now. A sister of the poor no longer.”

Little Martian corpse in Aurora

That’s Aurora, Texas, son, also styled “the town that almost was,” population just 1,144 as of two years ago. Northwest of Fort Worth.

The truth of the, uh, space alien depends on to whom you speak. The chamber of commerce, if there is one, will have its confirmation, too, I’m sure. If only by word-of-mouth. Heck, they already have “the world’s talking bird.”

Obamalot to run Texas

The permitting, via the executive branch’s EPA, beginning Jan. 2 that is, “on greenhouse-gas permits for companies seeking to build or upgrade power plants and oil refineries…”

Goodbye strong economy and high employment, hello increases in electric bills and the cost of gasoline—all to “stop” alleged global warming. The state will go to court, of course, but how long will that take and what will be the outcome?

Obamalot loves uncertainty and they’ve got at least two more years to whip it by imposing this and similar unilateral regulations without going through Congress.
