The plot to oust Trump

It’s a House bill that so far has two dozen backers, all Dems. It would convene a committee of doctors to present to the full congress a psychiatric evaluation of President Trump in accord with the 25th Amendment—a JFK era amendment.

Maryland Rep. Jamie Raskin, who also teaches constitutional law at American University, has predictably failed to attract any Republicans to his banner.

“But the U.S. Constitution’s 25th Amendment does allow for a majority of the president’s cabinet, or ‘such other body as Congress may by law provide,’ to decide if an Oval Office occupant is unable to carry out his duties – and then to put it to a full congressional vote.”

You want a real civil war in this country, one of snipers and other guerrilla action initially aimed at taking out the political and establishment elite? This is the way to get one. Initially, I say, because wars turn messy fast. Especially guerrilla wars.

Low IQ Mika gets it back

I had to laugh at Trump’s “face lift” “low IQ” retort to “Scarborough’s blonde ice mannequin/sex doll,” as Althouse commenter Basil Duke calls her. She’s been calling him names for months now.

I know. I watch them on the monitors at the J when I’m treadmilling. Not exclusively. I prefer Fox, hell, even CNN, which is anti-Trump 24/7. Nobody’s as rabidly nasty as the lefty clowns of MSNBC.

Comes the usual Never Trumper GOPe’s bedwetters complaining about his lack of presidential dignity. They were so much happier with W who meekly took the lefty shit. As ACE puts it: “We are not in a normal situation. Why do the sob sisters and pearl-clutchers of the Pretend Right insist on pretending the media’s behavior is normal and that it’s only Trump who’s guilty of ‘norm-breaking’?”

Why to keep shoving him towards impeachment, that’s why. Trump ain’t the type to care, obviously. He’s a New York City counter-puncher. Who, as another Althouse commenter, Drago puts it, “knows how to launch these lefties into Lefty Idiot Orbit.”

More power to him. He keeps them distracted while he does the real work.

Charles Hurt at the Washington Times loved it: “Of course, the puritanical schoolmarms of the political press went absolutely bonkers over Mr. Trump’s broadside of their fellow travelers. They scolded him that his Twitter missives were beneath the office of the president. Really, you mean like molesting an intern in the Oval Office? ‘Presidential’ like that?”

UPDATE:  In a subsequent Tweet, the president referred to Scarborough as “crazy” and Mika as “dumb as a rock.”

No toilet seats in Cuba

Plastic, it seems, is rationed in Cuba. So there’s no toilet seats in even the high-cost restaurants. And, of course, there’s no toilet paper, just like there wasn’t in the former Soviet Union. What is it with Communism and toilet paper?

This revelation comes from “A Tale of Two Cubas,” by Ron Radosh, in the latest issue of The Weekly Standard, which I get in magazine form.

“We saw giant piles of garbage that had been rotting for days. Sadly we saw more than one elderly man or woman picking through the piles in the hope of finding something of value, perhaps some leftover food…You have to be ingenious to make do on $26 a month.”

The vaunted “free” medical care is only for the Communist elite and the tourists…the regular doctors and hospitals…are so short of medical supplies that even aspirin is rationed…[and they] are crowded and unsanitary…”

The pricey hotels and restaurants are owned by the Cuban military which President Trump is in the process of putting off limits to Americans, who may not do any business with the Cuban military, which Bronco Bama’s opening to Cuba had allowed.

Bureaucracy is bureaucracy. If you notice that your restaurant is a little small, Radosh reports, it’s because “The government dictates the number of seats allowed…it began at 12 and has been allowed to rise only to 50.”

Single Source Fake News

Back in the day (it doesn’t seem to have been 11 years, but it was) editors required two independent sources for a “sources said” news story. Nowadays, even the WaPo will go with one. Amazing. Fake news by definition.

“…the news media no longer bothers to uphold any of its alleged standards. It was not that long ago that editors required two sources that were actual human beings with a credible claim to know the material. Newspapers might bend this rule, but they never went with copy that contained sources unknown to the editor. That’s no longer the case as editors no long exist in sufficient numbers to police it and the remaining ones simply don’t care. Anything goes so its all fake sources now.”

That’s the Z Man complaining about sports “news,” specifically ESPN “news,” which is mainly rumors about rumors, but it applies to news news as well. Hence the WaPo’s (also known as the Jeff Bezos Blog’s) numerous anti-Trump stories based on a single source. Who presumably is known to the editors, but maybe not.

CNN recently retracted a single source Trump hit piece—and three employees have resigned over it—when it was called out as fake by Breitbart News. Amazing that they retracted, considering they’ve been calling Breitbart “white supremacist” claptrap.

Maybe there’s hope for a comeback of those “alleged standards.”

Trump’s golden tweets

My comment on this WSJ piece walking back the media’s hysterical reactions to Trump’s tweets:

“Trump’s tweets are golden. As genuine as the man. Previous presidents have, after their multiple campaign promises, most of them to henceforth be forgotten, disappeared behind spokesfolk and telepromptered speeches. Trump is different. Hooray for the difference.”

So far, sixteen twenty people liked it.

UPDATE:  Read Townhall columnist Rachel Alexander’s “The Genius of Trump’s Tweets.”

Fake news, again

You remember the Trump cabinet meeting story? In which, according to the Mediacrats, the cabinet members sucked up to the boss? A Maoist reeducation session? Not. Didn’t happen.

“This small episode, this miniature, wholly unnecessary bit of dissembling or incompetence by the press, is a nice example of what Nicole Hemmer, a political scientist at the University of Virginia, has called ‘Trump Exceptionalism.’ It is a disease that strikes journalists above all. In the eyes of the bright young things who work in the White House press corps, with their faulty educations and unearned world-weariness, everything Trump does must be nefarious, and if not nefarious, at least vulgar and unprecedented. It just has to be. So it is. Even when it’s not.”

No wonder Trump gets so pissy on Twitter about Fake News.

Cuba Libre, Viva Trump

Bronco Bama’s little curtsy (better, I suppose, than a full bow) to the Castro regime is over. No more curtsies without reciprocity, thank you very much. Trump truth bombs, instead.

“For nearly six decades, the Cuban people have suffered under communist domination. To this day, Cuba is ruled by the same people who killed tens of thousands of their own citizens, who sought to spread their repressive and failed ideology throughout our hemisphere, and who once tried to host enemy nuclear weapons ninety miles from our shores. The Castro regime has shipped arms to North Korea, and fueled chaos in Venezuela. While imprisoning innocents, it has harbored cop killers, hijackers, and terrorists. It has supported human trafficking, forced labor, and exploitation all around the globe. This is the simple truth of the Castro regime. My administration will not hide from it, excuse it, or glamorize it. And we will never, ever be blind to it. We know what’s going on, and we remember what happened…

“The previous administration’s easing of restrictions on travel and trade does not help the Cuban people. They only enrich the Cuban regime. The profits from investment and tourism flow directly to the [Cuban] military. The regime takes the money and owns the industry. The outcome of [the] last administration’s executive action has been only more repression, and a move to crush the peaceful, democratic movement.”

Keeps the embassy in Havana for future negotiations. Respects Cuban sovereignty. But that’s all until the Castros are willing to do quid pro quo. See why the globalist, free trade, open borders, EU-loving establishment want to bring Trump down?

(P.S. The Austin daily will now have to renege on its lottery prize of a free trip to Cuba. Heh.)
