Democrats: The party of Bull Connor, segregation, and the KKK

Yes, but, of course, the Republican Party is the party of white people. So says the New Republic, or rather its latest Leftist iteration. And, as always, its author is history-challenged, as Ann Coulter so effective demonstrates:

“In the presidential campaign the year before [1956], the Republican platform had expressly endorsed the Supreme Court decision in Brown v. Board of Education [desegregating public schools]. The Democratic platform did not.

“To the contrary, that year, 99 members of Congress signed the ‘Southern Manifesto’ denouncing the court’s ruling in Brown. Two were Republicans. Ninety-seven were Democrats.”

Even the 1964 Civil Rights Act, the watershed law that finally vanquished almost a hundred years of racial segregation, could not have passed without votes from the “party of white people.”

Memo to the Titanic

I’m trying to ignore our ignoble politics, wishing a pox on both parties. So I think the best way to deal with this weekend’s takeover of the health-care system is to ignore it. But the Seablogger’s take is just too good to miss (including the title above):

“I am a cancer patient, and I would have been dead years ago if my private insurer had not seen me through. Your death panels would surely disallow the drugs that have kept me alive. My life lacks the social worth to be prolonged.”

Oh, indeed. Only the young (and Dems) will prosper from this catastrophe.

UPDATE:  Usually, the legacy media can be counted on to cover a protest at the hint of a chant. Ah, but not when they’re the wrong kind of protesters.

Democrat Priorities

$8 Billion for ACORN is just handy dandy, but $1.2 Billion for missile defense is too much? Well, at least for the foreseeable future, it will be the East and West coasts that are vulnerable to missiles from Iran and North Korea.

Here come the real fascists

Barry strode into office proclaiming that the economy was going to hell and the little guy was gonna die. Dems always do that, especially when it isn’t true. Like now. As we in Texas, where the economy remains quite good overall, know only too well. That’s one reason we didn’t vote for the charlatan. Dem hysterics spent eight years accusing Bush of promoting fear, when Bush had a good reason in the Jihadi terrorists, and now the Dems are gutting his solution, the war on terror. Did you like 9/11? Are you ready for another one?

Meanwhile, Barry is promoting needless fear. He said in his inaugural speech that we’re in an economic crisis. Crises like the housing bubble Dem hacks like Barney Frank helped puncture while he blamed Bush. Crises are necessary for Dems to grow government with more high-tax, feel-good, do-little programs that guarantee political corruption and nonsense. Ah, but also temporary jobs for their cronies. The funny thing is how dumb so many of their supporters are, especially the Hollyweird elite. They’ve spent eight years accusing Bush of promoting facism, proving they don’t know the meaning of the word. Barry and his personality cult are the real fascists. Wait until they try to kill conservative talk radio to suppress opinions they don’t like. Maybe then even a dumb actor will be able to figure it out.

No hope or change there.

Dems bail

Let’s see, what’s the count now? Three, or is it four, Dem congressmen have opted out on Barry? Looks like we have a trend in the making.
