McCaul is just another RINO

Shoot, our very own District 10 Republican rep is trying to get the feds to create yet another expensive bureaucracy—more federal employees, more taxes, more regulations. Isn’t that a Democrat thing? It’s also a RINO thing.

“Now Rep. Michael McCaul wants to create a federal Office of Coordination for Countering Violent Extremism and house it at the Department of Homeland Security…the new bureau would be responsible for a range of activities, including ‘identifying risk factors that contribute to violent extremism in communities in the United States,’ [at] $10 million a year for the next five years, and a new post—the ‘assistant secretary for countering violent extremism’—would be created to run it.”

“Violent extremism,” by the way, is the Obama administrations preferred euphemism for the threat that dares not speak its name in his presence, i.e. the Muslim Jihad. And it’s so versatile. Whatever RINO McCaul’s intention is here, what do you want to bet this turns into an assault on gun owners, the Tea Party and any other group of conservatives the predominantly Democrat federal bureaucracy dislikes?

Thanks a bunch, Mike. We need to retire you ASAP.

Lies Obamalot tells

“Every resource that can be put at that border is being put at the border. Every security is being made.” Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano said. “But we still need comprehensive immigration reform.”

Why, yes, of course. I’ve seen the twenty-foot-high chain-link fence that runs from one end of the 2,000-mile border to the other, especially its main portion in South Texas. Haven’t you?

Not to mention the private security guards (solving unemployment, doncha know) every twenty feet on eight-hour shifts. That’ll slow ’em down. Yessir.

Not that Janet is a unique liar. She has plenty of company:

The Top 10 Dumbest Things Said About the Arizona Immigration Law.

The common denominator of all ten is the racism charge. If you try to stop illegal immigration from the South nowadays—except by amnesty for all Mexican illegals now and in the future—you are called a racist by practically every newspaper. And by some bloggers who are comfortably far away from the border. Not to mention on CNN, of course.

Even usually-placid Peggy Noonan is quite tired of this old, discredited Democrat ploy. She worries that many, many of us have become so alienated from Washington over this border issue that someday soon, well… Something is going to break.

Homeland Security: Bozos at work

I mean, if you can’t manage to manage your own weapon… Don’t you feel  safer now? I know I do.

Especially after this:  Defeating the enemy by briefing the enemy. Yeah, that’ll work. Can anybody at DHS play this game?

Watch list

My little trip to the sacred soil of Virgina, as Southerners used to say, but pretty much don’t any more, produced several oddities. The most surprising was discovering before takeoff from Austin that my name was on the watch list. The ticket agent checked my driver’s license and said it was someone else, so I’m off as far as Southwest is concerned. But it delayed getting a boarding pass and so I was one of the last on board for SW’s unassigned seating. It insured a middle seat, between a burly Maryland fireman coming back from a convention in Texas, and a young fellow who wore headphones the  whole way. I still don’t know what to think about the watch listing. A convert jihadi, perhaps?
