I’m trying to recall the last presidential candidate who picked a vice president almost old enough to be his father, if not his grandfather. As Baby Barry has done with Joe Biden, who was in the Senate before BB was born. Mike Dukakis’s choice of Lloyd Bentsen, I think it was. At least in my lifetime. Although Bentsen was only about twelve years older than Dukakis, he looked older because his hair was white. Not a good omen for the Dems, of course, as Dukakis went down in flames–carrying only ten states and D.C.

Democrat Senator and soon-to-be presidential candidate Joe Biden–he of the carefully-combed thinning hair–says of his colleague Barack Obama:

“I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy,” he said. “I mean, that’s a storybook, man.”

I presume the MSM, which has been pretty nice to this clown since Biden’s last presidential run, in 1988, ended in plagiarism charges, will let this go. After all, they helped whitewash the braggart soldier. But, really now, the first mainstream African-American who is "articulate" and "bright" and "clean"(!).

Joe Biden. Shallow. Stupid. Racist.

John Kerry’s fact-finding trip to Iraq apparently was less than pleasant. But he could get the last laugh.

UPDATE  The Liberal blogs, led by TPM Muckraker, went ballistic over a photo at the "less" link above. Then Kerry’s aide also fought back but, in the end, the annonymous staff officer Ben of Mesopotamia declared it a draw and I agree. It’s pretty obvious that many troops despise Kerry, for a variety of reasons. Not all of them, of course, and BoM was generously evenhanded to him in the "less" link. Far more than I would have bothered to be.
