Wormtongue isn’t satisfied with losing the Iraq campaign, a move which spawned ISIS. Or with quietly giving Iran billions of American tax dollars. He wants the mullahs to have Iraq’s oil fields as well in his version of blood-for-oil.

“…it’s misleading to accuse Cruz of ignoring Obama and only going after Republicans. He’s going after Republicans who have failed to fight Obama.
“When I read some of the attacks on Cruz, I wonder if at least some of the anger is the result of his tenacity. I remember being told, when he was in the midst of his filibuster against Obamacare, that it was going to be damaging to the country and deadly to himself. He would lose, and that would pretty much end his role as a potential party or national leader.

It’s good to know there’s at least one Muslim cleric who advocates tolerance of non-Muslims. Unfortunately Ayatollah Hossein Kazemeini Boroujerdi has been imprisoned in Tehran since 2009, tortured and denied medical care, and now he is dying, presumably of heart disease.
“Ayatollah Boroujerdi threatens the regime for two reasons: he advocates toleration of all religious (and non-religious) beliefs, and, in keeping with Shi’ite tradition, opposes the involvement of religious leaders in politics. Years ago, he said ‘the regime is adamant that either people adhere to political Islam or be jailed, exiled or killed.
“In 2010 he sent Hanukkah greetings to the Jews of the world, saying “any religious belief that brings us closer to the Source (God) is the truth. This force will lead humanity towards enlightenment. On this great day, we celebrate the unity among the believers of God’s light.”
A White House plea for Boroujerdi’s freedom, so he can at least die at home among family and friends, might work, as might a similar call by our U.N. rep Samantha Powers. It’s hard to imagine either happening, unfortunately, but it would be wonderful if they did.

Everybody who thinks they know what Israel will do or when they will do it always seems to think (and talk and write) in terms of jet fighter-bombers dropping bunker busters on laboratories deep within mountains. Or else launching missiles from their tiny fleet of Dolphin submarines.
Certainly the submarine option would be preferable to risking the lives of young pilots and weapons officers (the guy in the back seat) flying so far away and over so much hostile territory. But there are other options few talk (or think or write) about.
Except PJMedia’s Dr. Michael Ledeen in his good series “The Iranian Time Bomb.” My favorite of his suppositions as to how it could be done is to think about an inside job. Not just by commandoes, though there are bound to be a more than a few of them already inside Iran.
But, even more likely, are some of the estimated quarter million Iranian Jews who already live there, all speaking Farsi and all passing effectively (because they are Iranians in a country where many, many people hate the regime) with plenty of means, motive and opportunity. Think about it.

UPDATE: A quarter million Iranian Jews still in Iran? Says Dr. Ledeen. Could be far fewer, according to Point of No Return, the Jewish Refugees blog. About 100,000 were there before the 1979 Muslim revolution. Not many have left since and the ones who stayed try to keep out of the public eye since the regime is mortally hostile to them. Still, what better motive could you ask for if you wanted an inside job?
