Texas Capitol

ten_commandmentsThe fabled Ten Commandments monument on the Texas Capitol lawn that has, since its erection in 1961, periodically driven atheists and the ACLU mad. Heh.

  1. Dick, Your Capitol pictures bring back pleasant memories of our visit to Austin in 2000. Too bad I didn’t know you were in the area. I did have a great visit with Jamie MacDonald. He moved back home to Baton Rouge, but I think he is now back in Austin. Maybe Lee has some info on it. He and his wife Kay are good people. Must be the Texas influence!!! Tom

I never met JM, Tom. Course I did not know you, either, until the 2003 reunion. My wife is still talking about how thoughtful it was of you to show up at her sister’s funeral in Indiana, not far from where you live.

  3. Dick, It was a last second thing since I happen to be in the area with a little extra time. As I recall, I think I was released for a V.A. physical early. There is an Am. Legion close to there that I try to visit when in the area. As I passed a florist shop ( a buiness I once helped my parents with ) I realized based on the minimum info I had they would more than likely help me with details. It was good to see you and to meet your family. By that time I had heard a lot of tales about (Mr. B.) and he was somewhat of a legend. Glad I could be there.
