Scooped

The Dinosaur Media continues to ignore the Edwards-Hunter sex scandal which every supermarket shopper is aware of and the conservative blogosphere has been chewing over for five days. Thus the DM is merely making itself look ridiculous. Not to mention double-standard. Even their Brit subsidiary, with a lot less to lose politically, is upstaging them. The "progressive" blogs–the so-called netroots, or nutroots if you disagree–also are out to lunch, so far.

UPDATE:  Well, Fox is in.

River Cats 6, Express 3

We spent a fun evening at the Dell Diamond in Round Rock, but it would have been more fun if the Express had won. But the Sacramento River Cats just plain outplayed them. The Cats had the first pitcher, a reliever, that I ever saw with a full beard. It’s like the nineteenth century is making a comeback.

Big Corn’s big mistake

Tired of illegal immigration from Mexico? Then you might start lobbying your Congressrat to do away with the ethanol scam. It’s enriching Iowa farmers (especially agribusiness), sure, but it’s adding to the impoverishment of the Mexican poor. When they’ve had enough, guess where they’ll set out for? Instead, we could push our pols to do something sensible for a change, like lifting the restrictions on drilling for more oil, instead of protecting a bunch of Alaskan caribou–and keeping the ag lobby happy.

MORE: But sugarcane and cellulosic biofuels–especially cellulosic–make sense, to me.

Ray Wylie’s anthem

Everytime this little weiner dog from Ohio, and the other dork from Michigan start whining about how they’re gonna impeach W for his "wrongs"–instead of getting off their pampered rears and allowing some drilling of American oil to bring down gas prices–I think of a song: Ray Wylie Hubbard’s 2003 favorite, to be exact: Sc**w You, We’re from Texas.

The foreign vote

Baby Barry, apparently, has the German vote. Mac has–believe it or not–at least some of the North Vietnamese vote:

"If I were an American, I’d vote for McCain."

Dems squelch troops’ voting

There seemed to be surprise mixed in with the anger that Baby Barry ignored the troops in Iraq and Afghanistan–other than the ones specifically vetted for him, black ones for the most part–and skipped the wounded in Germany altogether, during his world tour to create ad spots for his fall campaign. But there shouldn’t be any surprise. His own party is doing the best it can to hold down the voting of soldiers overseas. They apparently understand that not many of them would vote Democrat.

The next hot thing

Burt Rutan is a former Misty FAC pilot of the Vietnam War who later became the first man to fly nonstop around the world without refueling. He’s finishing up a commercial vehicle for suborbital hops to space, and here shares his personal vision that commercial space is just around the corner, and what a time it will be. And more.
