World’s oldest statue?

Seems, at twelve thousand years old, to be. So far, anyhow. But there’s more to come.

Mitzvah for the sun

Birkat Hachamah – Blessing G-d for the sun every twenty-eight years. A thank you for something we couldn’t live without.

The clueless seven

Yep. Those are our congress critters. Ignorant to a fault. But, hey, Fidel, the white dictator of a majority black and mixed-race population for fifty years, was cordial. He didn’t let any of his black political prisoners out as a sop to "liberal" sensibilites. But you can’t have everything. Hopenchange, you know.

Repealing prohibition

Or, so it seems, now that Democrat Sen. James Webb of Virginia is grousing about all the minor drug criminals (users, mainly) getting thrown in prison. Not quite at the level of actually seeking to end  prohibition yet, but offering more hope than ever before that it will move that way. The retired cops, i.e. the LEAPsters, are excited at the possibility, too. They’re organizing a get-out-the-email campaign here.

AP discovers YouTube

For some reason they think they can put stuff on YouTube but then ban even one of their paid subscribers from linking or embedding it. Rotsa ruck, dumbos. I knew most of the print dinosaurs didn’t understand the Web. They’re still in denial. But I didn’t think they were this schtoopid.

UPDATE:  Must have finally checked with their lawyers. AP apologizes to the subscriber.

Remember Me

Five minutes is a long time for even me to watch one of those support-the-troops videos. But this one, tipped to me by my chapter of the Army Association, is exceptionally fine.

Gimme that old time religion

Secular Big Media likes to use Easter week for its anti-religion broadsides. Thus Newsweak is out proclaiming Christian America’s "decline and fall."  The Wall Street Journal shows how the dying news weakly’s reading of the latest stats is, uh, weak. Heck, even the godless commies are getting religion:

"There are probably close to 100 million Christians in China, most of them following a very individualistic American-style faith. Already more people attend church each Sunday than are members of the Communist Party."

Heh.
