Israel’s flying car

It’s more likely to have military uses (Medevacs and ammo resupply) than civilian ones, at least in the immediate future. But, still.

One of the oldest dreams of “the future,” the flying car, is on the way. It’s pretty bright ahead. Better put on your shades.

Smut culture: The real Clinton legacy

Diana West on the real meaning behind Monica’s new tell-all in Vanity Fair:

“Bill Clinton, our first adolescent president…Under Clinton’s “moral” leadership, America took a giant plunge into previously unplumbed cultural degradation.

“Don’t get me wrong. We were already well on our way. But here are three new depths of sex, drugs and rock ‘n’ roll I think we and, worse, our children, reached more quickly, thanks to the example set by Bill Clinton, indispensably assisted by his chief enabler and would-be successor, Hillary Clinton.”

Imagine the new depths to which the Lizard Queen will take us.

Ms. West is worth a read, as always.

Uncommon sense

J.D., otherwise known as the Mouth of the Brazos (which is a river in Texas for those who don’t Google), has a good question which leads me to an uncomfortable conclusion.

The background: Fox News is, by all accounts, the No. 1 electronic news source, and they cover all of the Democrat scandals all the time. Thus J.D.’s question:

“If they are the most widely watched by the huge measures everyone claims, how are they then not the ‘main stream media?’ And with this many folks knowing what is ‘really’ happening, why the [%#&] isn’t something more effective being done?”

My uncomfortable conclusion: The majority have increasingly little influence in this supposedly free, democratic country.

If we’re missing something here, what is it?

I-35 to serfdom

Wormtongue, not content with destroying more jobs by restricting the use of coal, oil and natural gas in order to fight the Democrat myth of global warming, is concocting new regulations to force interstate highway drivers to pay federal tolls.

Dislike taking off your shoes and being pawed at airports? Now you can queue up at toll booths every dozen miles or so. Or let the feds install a tracking device on your car so they know who paid and who didn’t, where they went and when.

The fabled land of liberty is going, going gone. As Instapundit says, we’re on the road to serfdom. Indeed, the interstate highway to serfdom.

The fly in the global warming ointment

No matter what you think of the latest Democrat report that a) the globe is warming b) it’s all our fault and c) more taxes and higher energy costs will save humanity:

“Since even immediate and total shutdown of [ALL] carbon dioxide-emitting vehicles, power plants, and factories in the U.S. would decrease global warming by only a hypothetical and undetectable two-tenths of a degree Celsius by 2100, it is misleading to imply, as the report does, that the Obama administration’s climate policies can provide any measurable protection from extreme weather events.”

China and India are likely to have bigger impacts and they don’t have a truculent fool for a president. Not that this will stop the Democrats, you understand. All rather similar to the other Democrat lies that Obamacare would reduce health care costs and if you like your insurance you can keep it.

Public school politics

I was amazed when Mr. B.’s first grade Austin teacher back in 2006 launched into a week-long lesson on the dangers of global warming. He was already so frightened of cigarettes, thanks to the school system, that he wouldn’t get in the car until I hid my pack of Salems in the glove box.

So this report of a California (where else) public school requiring eighth graders to write essays questioning whether the Holocaust (the systematic, in fact industrialized, Nazi murder of six million Jews and millions of others) was an “actual event” is not a surprise.

Nor is the name of the school superintendent: Mohammed Z. Islam. Fortunately some adult complained and the essays are no longer required. We can thank Gen., later President, Eisenhower for what we know of the Holocaust. He saw the future clearly.

Pity the public schools everywhere couldn’t be cleansed of these political creatures who call themselves educators.

The army that’s bigger than China’s

Remington 700

And, oh by the way, Wormtongue and his political party have succeeded in driving many of the country’s gun makers to the South, where they belong. Which, as it happens, is where a good many (if not most) of that army bigger than China’s resides.

Bet you didn’t know that the original Mr. Remington’s first name was Eliphalet. The company is keeping its HQ in New York State but, thanks to the Democrat governor’s inane anti-gun stance, is sending 2,000 jobs to Alabama. Yee Haw!
