Rule 5: Official bikini of the Secret Service

Back when you could drink and drive

Absolutely true. It was 1978, when I moved back to Texas, that you could still set an open can of beer (or an open bottle of bourbon, if you were so inclined) between your legs as you drove. And if you got stopped for speeding (which wasn’t very likely) the cop wouldn’t say a thing about the booze.

Ah, those were the days, as JD Allen (The Mouth of the Brazos) remembers.

Heh

“If it sounds like Karl Marx, acts like Benito Mussolini, lies like Joe Izzusu, vacations like he thinks he and his wife are King Louie and Maria Antoinette, attracts followers reminiscent of those attracted by Jim Jones, and stumbles like Bozo the Clown, it’s probably Barack Obama!!!”

UPDATE:  Even sycophant Peggy Noonan thinks Obumbles is doomed:

“You know why they’re not using ‘You know me’? Because we know him, and it’s not a plus…There is a growing air of incompetence around Mr. Obama’s White House.”

No kidding.

Romney comes out punching

I favored Rick Perry and when he dropped out Newt Gingrich because I figured Mittens would be just another whimp, another humble dissenter like McCain back in 2008. So concerned about being called a racist that he’d throw the election rather than be “divisive.”

So I’ve been heartily pleased to be wrong thus far, as in this Romney victory speech, which only Fox News Insider printed in its entirety (thanks for that):

“We will stop the unfairness of urban children being denied access to the good schools of their choice; we will stop the unfairness of politicians giving taxpayer money to their friends’ businesses; we will stop the unfairness of requiring union workers to contribute to politicians not of their choosing; we will stop the unfairness of government workers getting better pay and benefits than the taxpayers they serve; and we will stop the unfairness of one generation passing larger and larger debts on to the next.”

It will help that Uncle Barry’s campaign apparently plans to be as negative as possible:

“Because of his extraordinary ineptness at governing, the president has limited options when it comes to the 2012 campaign. He’s decided to go with the most ruthless, partisan, and divisive alternative open to him.”

But there’s still a long way to go to Nov. 6 and Obama’s court media eunuchs will be on Romney’s case every step of the way. At least he won’t be surprised, with McCain’s deer-in-the-headlights look when the NYTimes turned on him.

Not All Things Considered

Heh. Not the bias of the reporter, a former Common Cause guy allowed to extol, who else, Common Cause, in his not-hardly-all-things-considered reporting.

Good work, Breitbart.

Blame the military AND the media

Michael Yon correctly lays blame for the latest Afghanistan photo scandal on the soldier(s) who took the snapshots and made sure the Los Angeles Times got hold of them. Hard to fault that logic.

But Yon absolves the media in the fiasco, which is ridiculous. The LATimes didn’t have to use the photos. They knew the furor they would cause, especially in Afghanistan and the additional problems they would present for US policy there. But our modern media sheep (usually led by the NYTimes) have no sense of responsibility. And they never miss a chance to make our military look bad.

Muslim countries have lower rates of adultery

The real “war on women” is not a Republican thing as the Obama Democrats pretend. As you can see, it is a Muslim thing. The latest development is in Afghanistan, also known as the backside of the moon.
