Spengler: Confederate flag makes us stupid

Well, our Little Barry Hussein is actually very happy to have us debating the Confederate flag and the 150-year-old Civil War rather than arguing about his corrupt administration. It’s the old political sleight-of-hand. Quick, look over there!

But Spengler (the pen name of one of my favorite writers David P. Goldman) is down with that. Like Diana West, he sees Americans being stupid and comes up with a reason. She considers it a result of the moral relativism birthed in the 1960s, aided, not incidentally, by the body of lies our federal government had been telling since 1933. When, in fact, FDR’s administration was so thoroughly penetrated by Soviet agents as to  make the New Deal a Communist front and the Greatest Generation perfect dupes. But very little of that was known until several years after secret government files were released in 1995.

Spengler prefers to see the reason for our stupidity in post-war Washington failing to utterly crush the old Confederacy. Well, they did put Jefferson Davis in a damp prison cell for two years. But Gen. Grant was altogether too nice about everything else, apparently. Spengler says the feds should have banned the flags, the monuments and every other manifestation of the slave-owning South. They’d already burned most of the mansions.

He also hates Gone With The Wind and thinks it should be banned. Although any careful reading of the book shows it does not glorify the Confederacy even if the movie does. Spengler admits to never having read the book and being unable to stand even a few minutes of the movie. He hated Scarlett returning to her mansion at the end. “I wanted Scarlett to pick cotton until her fingers fell off,” he writes.

Now that’s irritation. I rather prefer West’s reasoning but I can see Goldman’s point, too. And I say that as a descendant of Rebel soldiers. I admire the soldiers enormously but always have thought the Confederacy sucked. And banning things is always counterproductive. They just go underground and develop more power than before.

And something else I noticed growing up. So long as segregation was the law of the land, the Confederacy was a big topic of conversation in the South. It was a parlor trick among Southern males to know even the smallest details of the war.

When the topic was Gettysburg, for instance, and someone said “Okay, where was he?” you were supposed to know the speaker was referring to JEB Stuart and his missing cavalry. When segregation began to die after 1964, so did most of these conversations. As if the one had supported the other all along.

Obama’s criminal conspiracy

“’These new documents show that the Obama IRS scandal is also an Obama DOJ and FBI scandal,’ said Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton. ‘The FBI and Justice Department worked with Lois Lerner and the IRS to concoct some reason to put President Obama’s opponents in jail before his reelection. And this abuse resulted in the FBI’s illegally obtaining confidential taxpayer information. How can the Justice Department and FBI investigate the very scandal in which they are implicated?’”

Watergate was small potatoes compared to our Little Barry Hussein.

UPDATE:  “The frightening thing about disgraced IRS bureaucrat Lois Lerner’s knowledge of selective audits of groups on the basis of their politics is not just that she seemed to ignore it, but that she seemingly assumed no one would find out, or perhaps even mind. . . .Ultimately, no nation can continue to thrive if its government refuses to enforce its own laws.

It started with their ignoring the immigration laws, then spread to the IRS, DOJ, & FBI. At least Our LIttle Barry Hussein warned us about the latter in 2009.

Who had more slaves than Robert E. Lee?

“The return of the Confederacy was averted in the summer of 2015 when major retailers frantically scoured through their vast offerings to purge any images of a car from the Dukes of Hazzard.

“If not for their quick thinking, armies of men in gray might have come marching down the streets of New York and San Francisco to stop off for an Iced Mocha Frappucino ™ at a local Starbucks before restoring slavery….”

Shoot, Mohammed his ownself had more slaves than Robert E. Lee.

“There are no slaves in [Lee’s] Arlington House today, but in the heartlands of Islam, from Saudi mansions to ISIS dungeons, there are still slaves, laboring, beaten, bought, sold, raped and disposed of in Mohammed’s name…”

Not that we’ll be hearing about any of that soon from our race-baiting president.

Humor. Well, humor and fact, from the irrepressible Sultan. Read. It. All.

The truth about the Democrat economy

Well, now, it has taken an admitted Socialist running for president to tell the truth about our high unemployment, though I think Bernie’s 10.5 percent is way low.

Meanwhile all the closet Socialists (Democrats and RINOs) and their bosom buddies in the news media will go right on lying.

Fight the power

The Oregon judge commissioner who knowingly put the anti-gay marriage bakers out of business with a fine they could never pay tried to beggar them further.

“In the ruling, [Commissioner Brad] Avakian placed an effective gag order on the Kleins, ordering them to ‘cease and desist’ from speaking publicly about not wanting to bake cakes for same-sex weddings based on their Christian beliefs.”

So as not to be able to raise money from sympathizers beyond their immediate circle to help them pay the $135,000 fine for, get this, “mentally raping” the two Lesbians they refused to serve. Oh, please. But Mr. Judge Commissioner didn’t enjoin us from helping the Kleins by posting the address of their new Internet site.

Where they seem to be as defiant as ever, risking their hides anew with this wording of their Web ad: “We here at Sweet Cakes strongly believe that when a man and woman come together to be joined as one, it is truly one of the most special days of their lives, we feel truely honored when we are chosen to do the cake for your special day.”

Meanwhile, the Democrat Party, Stalinists of old and of late, are daring anyone else to try and follow suit. Why don’t we all get together and make the Kleins richer than they could ever imagine? Me, I would be more creative, but to each their own. That really is the essence of the religious clause of the First Amendment after all.

They’re going to need to pay more lawyer fees it seems and it would be lots more effective than handing our money to pols who will only go back on their promises after they’re elected. Lying, as always, and merely adding to the new state coercion. Eh?

To coin a phrase: Fight the power. Order a cake or some cookies.

UPDATE: It’s always worth fighting the left, instead of trying to accomodate it the way pathetic RINOs do. Why? Because, as Sultan Knish explains, the left is only interested in power: “The left does not care about gay rights. If you doubt that, consider how many of the left’s favorite Muslim countries have gay rights. The left has recently divided its campaign passions between gay marriage and defending Iran. Iran denies the existence of gays and hangs them where it finds them.”

Getting Independent of Historical Lies

On this Independence Day, it’s time to get independent of the historical lies that have warped most of our minds. For instance, the continuing, celebratory historical narratives—despite a recent dulling of his shiny halo—that still enshrine FDR as the alleged greatest of American presidents. Yes, even before Lincoln.

Never mind our recent discovery that Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s administration was shot through with Soviet agents, making the New Deal a Communist front. Or that he singlehandedly prevented the late Nicholas Winton, savior of hundreds of Jewish children from the Holocaust, from saving thousands more.

Comes this latest reminder of FDR’s shame: 1936 Olympics track hero Jesse “Owens said, ‘Hitler didn’t snub me – it was FDR who snubbed me. The president didn’t even send me a telegram.’ [Owens] was never invited to the White House nor were honors bestowed upon him by president Franklin D. Roosevelt…”

Of course not. Roosevelt’s Democrat party was the party of slavery and the post-slavery KKK which was still in business throughout the “New Deal”. Later the party of Bull Connor and the fire hoses turned on MLK’s 1950s marchers protesting segregation. Whatever his personal inclinations (and they don’t seem to have been very exemplary in any case) FDR made sure to tiptoe around racist and anti-Semitic sensibilities.

But you won’t read any of this in the latest elitest biographies whose authors contend that FDR was “one of America’s most beloved leaders.” Which is pure hooey.

The sort of lie which gave birth to cultural relativism which in turn enables the Obama administration’s current cossetting of radical Muslims bent on imposing oppressive sharia law on the rest of us. What goes around, you might say, comes around.

McCaul is just another RINO

Shoot, our very own District 10 Republican rep is trying to get the feds to create yet another expensive bureaucracy—more federal employees, more taxes, more regulations. Isn’t that a Democrat thing? It’s also a RINO thing.

“Now Rep. Michael McCaul wants to create a federal Office of Coordination for Countering Violent Extremism and house it at the Department of Homeland Security…the new bureau would be responsible for a range of activities, including ‘identifying risk factors that contribute to violent extremism in communities in the United States,’ [at] $10 million a year for the next five years, and a new post—the ‘assistant secretary for countering violent extremism’—would be created to run it.”

“Violent extremism,” by the way, is the Obama administrations preferred euphemism for the threat that dares not speak its name in his presence, i.e. the Muslim Jihad. And it’s so versatile. Whatever RINO McCaul’s intention is here, what do you want to bet this turns into an assault on gun owners, the Tea Party and any other group of conservatives the predominantly Democrat federal bureaucracy dislikes?

Thanks a bunch, Mike. We need to retire you ASAP.
