The NYSlimes editorial board is demanding that the feds and corporate America ally to censor conservative social media on the Internet.

Poor gatekeepers, they’ve lost control of the narrative.

“It’s truly remarkable how the same controlled media organizations which whine incessantly about President Trump’s supposed attacks on the free press are the biggest lobbyists for corporate and government censorship attacking the true free press which exists on the internet.”

Ann Coulter remarks: “Consider how strong liberals consider their arguments. They’ve got all of the mainstream media, one hundred percent — ABC, NBC, CBS, all the cable, the major newspapers, the major news magazines, they’ve got Yahoo, AOL. They have the Swamp, they’ve got Hollywood, they have Silicon Valley. And now they’re down to the last corners of the internet. Oh no! Conservatives can speak to one another, we must shut it off!”

UPDATE:  The Nazis and other Jew haters are a pain but they’re in the minority even on Gab and can be “muted” to not have to engage them. The NYSlimes wants them vanished altogether as “hate speech,” stuffed back into the desktop publishing world, but who’s to say what’s hate. Twitter and Facebook have banned the politically incorrect and conservative along with the true haters. Gab says information must be free and I agree.

Gab’s back

Thanks to a domain-hosting site in Seattle (of all places). Epik’s CEO blogged their reasoning for picking up where GoDaddy (mine own domain host) left off:

“Although, I did not take the decision lightly to accept this domain registration, I look forward to partnering with a young, and once brash, CEO who is courageously doing something that looks useful. As I reflect on my own journey as a truth-seeking tech entrepreneur, I have no doubt that Andrew [Torba, Gab’s CEO] will continue to develop not only as tech entrepreneur but also as a responsible steward — one that can balance bravado with diplomacy and who tempers courage with humility.”

Good luck weathering the digital censorship  storm Epik, and welcome back  to Gab.

Gab CEO responds

Gab CEO Andrew Torba responds on NPR to the censorship of his site and its 800,000 users (of which I am one) by the Silicon Valley oligarchy. Here’s the full interview of 16 plus minutes which NPR is very unlikely to use in full.

He makes valid points: Gab had like 4 minutes from an ambiguous post Bowers made about “going in” until he murdered the synagogue congregants (I see no reason to call him a suspect); Bowers also had a presence on Facebook and on Twitter but they’ve not been called “a hate megaphone” of “far-right extremists” nor taken down and banned for it; Gab is working with law enforcement to help prosecute Bowers, not stalling them like the big social media platforms have done in the past.

Torba, who has a connection to Austin (according to a business profile on Bloomberg), says he’s now receiving death threats from the usual suspects. He makes another interesting point: that it’s only been since Trump won the presidency that conservatives on platforms like Twitter and Facebook have been censored, which led to the creation of Gab.

Why we Trumpsters stick with him

No matter what the anti-Trump news media says or does we keep on keeping on with The Donald. Journalist Salena Zito knows why, and explains in this piece that was temporarily censored by the leftist Facebook. Or Liberal Fascistbook:

“This new conservative populist coalition is not the fluke the political class hoped it was. Donald Trump did not cause it, he is just the result of it, so no matter what he does, it continues. It is predicated on them, not him.

“The coalition is a strike at not just tone deafness in both Congress and the White House but also high levels of incompetence, negligence and shoddy performance at agencies, as well as inept social services, a bloated and incompetent bureaucracy, endless wars and multinational agreements and treaties that don’t benefit average people.”

And the very evident and unpunished corruption epitomized by such as the Hildabeast.

UPDATE:  Commenter Evan Strong at the Daily Wire: “They just don’t get it. He is our glorious bastard. We know what he is and he is the only one at this moment in history to right the ship. I don’t care about his personal life. I can live with his outbursts, occasional vulgarity and that he doesn’t always say the right thing. He is genuine, real, a fighter and he gets it, which the left never will. He also has a big heart and loves this country.”

I cut out Islam, made no jokes (or only benign ones), did not comment on gender…didn’t help. The narrow-mindedness has become extreme. There is no way that my choice of words, the “tone”, could have been a problem. Others actually behave rudely. Most of my comments were on the topic of antisemitism.

I would lie if I said that I don’t find this whole development depressing. How can a culture fall so deeply so fast? Germans are specialists.

And the French are following. According to ZEIT the Supreme court ruled today that the principle of “fraternite” allows people to hide illegal immigrants and break the laws. This is the most ridiculous verdict I have ever heard. It is the abolishment of laws as such and their replacement with gut feelings.

And there is this glib cheering that the article conveyed. The commenters…

Newspapers collude to attack Trump

Gee, haven’t they (and radio and TV and some of the Internet) been doing that since 2016?. But this is a special effort called and coordinated by the Boston Globe (owned sold by the NYSlimes in 2013) due to Trump’s general “fake news” criticism and his “enemy of the people” charge against specific outlets.

“I hope it would educate readers to realize that an attack on the First Amendment is unacceptable,’’ said Marjorie Pritchard, deputy managing editor for the editorial page of The Boston Globe. ‘‘We are a free and independent press, it is one of the most sacred principles enshrined in the Constitution.’’

Ah, but the First Amendment doesn’t say the government can’t criticize the news media.

“Mr. Trump enjoys free speech just as his media adversaries do. Rather, the First Amendment prevents government from infringing on the rights of Americans to speak and publish. And on that score, there’s a reasonable case that Mr. Trump’s predecessor presented a greater threat to press freedom, to say nothing of Mr. Trump’s 2016 opponent. Mrs. Clinton wanted to restrict the ability of Americans to make a documentary about her. We don’t recall editorial boards joining together to announce they were not with her.”

InfoWars objective

Reasonably so, yes, in the headline news segment of its app. Not the Alex Jones commentary which, of course, is commentary. The app is, curiously, still available at the Apple app store. I downloaded it to my phone in the interest of promoting free speech. You should try it, too.

Meanwhile, Twitter’s CEO says they haven’t deleted InfoWars and won’t until they see a violation of their service agreement. Which, alas, isn’t defined.
