The ‘poor Palestinians’ shuck

Barry Rubin explains the latest wrinkle. Same as the last one.

“Rockets from the Gaza Strip continue to pound Israel. And much of the Western media blames: Israel. I want to explain again how this system works:

“What follows is a seven-point pattern that goes something like this: Someone shoots at your spouse, you punch the attacker, he yells, ‘Ceasefire!’ then kicks you in the groin and takes some more shots at your spouse.

“You try to defend yourself. The police stand by doing nothing and then declare you to be the aggressor for breaking the ceasefire.”

Fortunately, enough Israelis are getting fed up with this scenario that they may finally stop worrying about Western media. As well they should.

Brave mujaheed, attacking unarmed civilians

That’s one thing that stands out about the cross-Sinai border near attack near Eilat the other day. The mooj hit two civilian buses and two cars. There were soldiers on leave in one of the buses, but the brave mujaheed couldn’t have known that.

The other thing that stands out is the probable background of the killers. The usual intelligentsia excuse is that these scum are poor, uneducated religious fanatics. But Naveed Afzal Haq, the then-30-year-old mooj who shot six women (killing one) at the Jewish Federation of Greater Seattle on July 28, 2006, had a degree in electrical engineering.

Haq, who also had a history of exposing himself in public and had flip-flopped from Islam to Christianity and back again, is serving life without parole plus 120 years, the extra years presumably to keep the pols from letting him go at some later date. Of course, the surviving women will be disabled for the rest of their lives.

Lebanon (Iran) is on the UN security council

WTF? The country that Iranian-client Hezbollah rules as a terror state gets to make security decisions, such as refusing to condemn the cross-Sinai murders and woundings of Israelis until and unless the condemnation includes Israel.

For fighting back, presumably.

No surprise, there. Hez already had declared the attack “heroic.” I always thought the UN was worthless. Now I know it is. It used to pretend to do things. Now it no longer has to pretend. It can just ignore what doesn’t concern Iran and the world’s other dictators—and religious terrorists like Hezbollah.

Boycotters of Israel: Archibishop Tutu

“Tutu has demonized the ‘Jewish lobby’ as too ‘powerful’ and ‘scary,’ resorting to a vile myth rooted in anti-Jewish stereotype, whereby the Jews control Washington. According to Tutu’s horrific and false accusation against the Jewish people, Israel is a sadistically colonialist entity, a blind persecutor of children, and a mad builder of apartheid walls.”

First in a series here. There are so many of these boycotters I don’t know where to begin. Tutu, the supposed world good-guy, is as good a start as any. He’s actually a shill for Arab terrorism. But you’d never know that. Even Obamalot has given him an award, ignoring his work against Israel. Or, in Obamalot’s case, perhaps approving of it.

The Middle East’s Holy War, 1967 version

“….today, worshipers in the mosques and crowds in the streets are treated to a special Friday prayer.  The muezzins call for a Holy War against bad Jews everywhere in the world, and urge the rulers and people of every country to chase them away and clean their soil of them.  There is no doubt that ‘bad Jews’ could eventually mean all Jews, especially the nearest victims still living in Iraq….

“Whenever the country was in trouble, our community had to suffer in this manner, because the government could not grapple with the problems facing it.  So it finds a scapegoat to busy the people with; to focus their attention on something else.  And if arbitrary arrest meant only being in jail, it might be tolerable.  But in abnormal circumstances it always meant torture also, and in some cases the victims were never seen again.”

From “All Waiting to be Hanged,” by Max Sawdayee, a former Iraqi Jew’s poignant diary. It’s pre-POD and therefore now out of print (one of the little-known drawbacks of “traditional” publishing), but excerpts are here.

Israel’s “silent majority” speaks up

“This post is mainly for my friends abroad, wherever they are, who may have trouble projecting their beliefs and experiences onto our small but peculiar country….

“It started in a small way, with the cottage cheese boycott. Was it the surprising success of the Facebook-led “uprising” or other reasons, but the unrest spread and continues to spread, expanding into new domains and involving more and more citizens, hitherto inert and apathetic.”

My Israeli pal Snoopy the Goon offers a tentative explanation of the new phenom of Israel’s “silent majority” which has recently hit the streets of Tel Aviv and elsewhere to protest high prices, low influence and, well, my advice is to go here and read it for yourself.

Especially if  you think Israel is only about their decades-old trouble with the intolerant Muslims and the recent dispute with Obamalot.

The 14-century crux of the Arab-Israeli conflict

Middle East wisdom from Yoram Ettinger, Israel’s onetime consul general in Houston:

“…..the crux of the Arab-Israeli conflict does not depend on Israel or on the Americans. It is a derivative of the Middle East as it has been for 14 centuries. One shouldn’t ignore the fact that for 1,400 years, since the appearance of Islam, there has not been intra-Arab/Moslem peace, intra-Arab/Moslem compliance with intra- Arab/Moslem agreements, intra-Arab/Moslem ratification of all borders and not a single Arab/Moslem democracy.

“Terror has been an integral key element of intra-Arab/Moslem policy. In defiance of such an entrenched reality, some of us wish that the Arabs would bestow upon the Jewish State that which they have yet to accord to one another. I wish that it would be a logical expectation, but it is not.”
