More random thoughts

Since the incumbents will never give up their privileges, much less impose term limits on themselves, the only solution is to vote out incumbents every chance you get. Like tomorrow. No exceptions. Party makes no difference. Constant rotation will give them less time to steal.

But vote conservative when you can. Why? Because, as PJMedia columnist Richard Fernandez puts it: “Even though most politicians are scumbags, conservatives tend to be less scumbaggy simply because the media is always out to get them. They are literally held to a higher standard and consequently, some of them actually rise to it, albeit unwillingly in many cases. But whatever, as long as it works.”

Interesting how whenever Israel fights back against the arabs who like to call themselves Palestinians the haters come out of the woodwork, like cockroaches in the dark. Especially those in the State Department who suddenly are fearful for civilians who might get hurt. Having long ignored the civilians under the gun in Syria, North Korea, Iran, etc. These cockroaches really do miss the Holocaust.

In the old days of sink or swim in newsrooms, before journo degrees became required and “diversity” led to hand-holding of new hires, you’d have been hard-pressed to find a hundred dollar bill in a wallet. Or a woman. Clouds of cigar smoke hung in the air, cigarettes were stomped out on the linoleum floor and pint whiskey bottles were not uncommon in lower desk drawers.

Wait’ll the Queen of Benghazi gets in, then the modern journos’ll be saying how careful they have to be in criticizing a woman. The journos are always looking for an excuse to do nothing but report the latest celebrity whatever.

You can still see the occasional old sedan with two dead deer atop it in the Hill Country during deer season. Not as many as forty years ago. More often now it would be a pickup with the tailgate down.

Anyone who lives in New Jersey and follows the news knows about the New York Time’s constant, egregious errors and bias. Only those beyond NJ are inclined to believe it pure.

I don’t expect the White Houses geniuses, who call names and flip the bird like middle-schoolers on the playground, are smart enough to read Dilbert.

Not sure how far back you want to go to “used to be”, but it wasn’t so long ago (to us in our 70s) that America was segregated, sexist, queer-hating, at least as conformist as now (but in different ways) and a whole lot poorer.

Politicians have always lied, stolen, over-reached and been feared as the final nail in society’s coffin. Perspective, people, we need perspective.

The Democrat snoozemedia is convinced that Obamacare will be fixed someday soon. More likely never is my bet. It’s that 10,500-page rule book that’s killing it. Pols always do themselves in. Their over-reach is our saving grace.

No carrot and celery sticks for Obama’s kids

“While Michelle Obama’s skimpy school lunch mandates have been widely rejected by students and schools, the elite private school attended by both Obama daughters will be serving chicken wings and potato chips…

“Obama’s daughters can get a Cuban sandwich. Pasco County Schools in Florida had to eliminate Cuban sandwiches because they violated Michelle Obama’s lunch standards.”

Government standards are for the peasants, not the political elite. It’s always do as they say, not as they do.

Don’t believe I’ve ever had a Cuban sandwich. Probably an East Coast thing. Doesn’t look like I missed much.

Fart, Barf & Itch on the campaign trail

“…the FBI (a wholly-owned subsidiary of the [Eric Holder’s] DOJ) has made the highly unusual decision to disclose their investigation into Mike Rounds (pictured above), a Republican Senate candidate in South Dakota, less than a week before next Tuesday’s vote.

“The alleged misconduct being investigated is somewhat obscure–something involving a work visa program in the state–but it is notable that the alleged misconduct was to have occurred three years ago, and the FBI’s announcement comes a year after the state’s own attorney general closed its own investigation without bringing any charges.”

Just the first of many October “surprises” to come this weekend.

Lurch and his magic hat

Is there a bigger clown in Wormtongue’s administration than John Kerry? Slow Joe Biden, who couldn’t pass an entrance exam for first grade, is a genius compared to Lurch who recently dropped his diplomatic mask to blame the rise of ISIS on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The way some yo-yos  blame Israel for fomenting 9/11 and the jihadi conflict ever since

Which the White House later claimed our Lord Nelson of the River Boats ((He still has the hat!) never said despite multiple reports of it from various news sources. But they always do that, back and fill that is, deny the undeniable. Someone’s got to protect Lurch from himself. And, for a supposed diplomat, he is mighty thin-skinned.

Israel’s defense minister Moshe Yaalon mocked him as “obsessive and messianic.” (He still has the hat!) Yaalon’s remark was made in private but leaked to the Israeli press. Yaalon apologized. What did Lurch do? Like the rest of the Worm’s JV administration, he’s still holding a grudge

Yaalon’s “meeting with Chuck Hagel at the Pentagon last week was all smiles. Asked by the Washington Post’s Lally Weymouth about the Kerry kerfuffle, he replied, ‘We overcame that.’ Or not.

“’Despite the fact that Yaalon’s requests to meet with [Kerry and Biden] were declined over a week ago, Washington waited until the visit ended before making the story public in order to humiliate the Israeli defense minister,’ Ha’aretz reported. Mr. Yaalon is now said to be under an Obama administration ‘quarantine’ until he performs additional penance…”

As Brett Stephens adds, “The good news here is that at least there’s one kind of quarantine this administration believes in. The bad news is that it seems to give more thought to pursuing personal vendettas against allies like Israel than it does to waging effective military campaigns against enemies like ISIS.”

Shockeroo. Bibi, for one, has had enough. After temporarily calling a halt to such things to appease the White House’s attempt to get the Pallies to talk peace, Bibi recently announced the construction of 1,000 more apartments in Jerusalem, Israel’s capital city, the one the State Department and Lurch (he still has the hat!) refuse to recognize as such. The U.S. embassy is in Tel Aviv.

“The French build in Paris, the English build in London, and the Israelis build in Jerusalem. Why come and tell the Jews not to live in Jerusalem? Because it will heat up the atmosphere?” [Bibi] said in an address to parliament. “We are building like we’ve built since the establishment of the state.…Violence is not the result of building in Jerusalem.”

The building will be in the part of the holy city that Kerry (He’s still lying about the hat.)  persists in referring to as East Jerusalem, as if the Jordanians were still occupying it. Which they did, in addition to the Old City, until 1967 when that little Arab misadventure referred to as the Six Day War went down. 1967 just happens to be the year and the borders the Worm wants Israel to return to “with swaps” to make the Pallies sign a peace treaty. They claim “East Jerusalem” as part of their future “state.” Dream on.

So Kerry reacted. He called Bibi. So far Bibi isn’t backing down and the State Department hasn’t released anything about what Lurch told him. Instead, the White House sent out a surrogate to slur Bibi as a “chickenshit.” And then denied doing it. Reminiscent of the way the adolescent Worm plays a middle-schooler in surreptitiously giving political opponents the finger and then denying he did it to the very few journos bold enough to ask.

Maybe Lurch told Bibi about his lucky hat. Nah. The State Department would have officially announced that one for sure.

UPDATE: Heh. Guess who got tasked with an additional denial?  Lurch is shocked, shocked, that any chickenshit in the administration would call Bibi names.

How bureaucracy handles ebola

One of the first travelers from West Africa to land in New Jersey is a nurse who worked with eobla patients in Sierra Leone. Kaci Hickox went to school in Texas; she’s fallen into the clutches of the quarantine bureaucracy and its “frenzy of disorganization.” Pity her.

Three hours passed. No one seemed to be in charge. No one would tell me what was going on or what would happen to me. I called my family to let them know that I was OK….Four hours after I landed at the airport, an official approached me with a forehead scanner. My cheeks were flushed, I was upset at being held with no explanation. The scanner recorded my temperature as 101.

“The female officer looked smug. ‘You have a fever now,’ she said. I explained that an oral thermometer would be more accurate and that the forehead scanner was recording an elevated temperature because I was flushed and upset. I was left alone in the room for another three hours. At around 7 p.m., I was told that I must go to a local hospital. I asked for the name and address of the facility. I realized that information was only shared with me if I asked.”

Later she tested negative for ebola. They didn’t care. She’s theirs for 20 more days.

UPDATE:  CDC clears Hickox to go home.

MORE: Her home seems to be Maine where the governor wants her in self-quarantine. She’s fighting that, too, which, as Insty says, now makes her look selfish—another expert willing to give advice but not take it.

Panic Over Obola Not Ebola

SEE UPDATE BELOW: New Ebola case in New York City.

It’s our lying, incompetent louse of a president that has people fearful of Ebola. Because we know he and his bumbling, biased bureaucrats will do nothing about it expect lie and prevaricate. Or as Mark Bayless, a commenter at the Wall Street Journal put it:

“The problem is….a complete collapse in our tolerance for self serving governmental bureaucrats, starting with Obama.  His kids do not attend the wretched public schools he forces on the rest of us and they do not eat the gruel that his brain dead wife demands that our kids eat. His family is not subject to ObamaCare and will be protected, at great expense if necessary, from the threat of Ebola.  We have had enough of this double standard.”

And WSJ commenter Judy Smith: “What we’re afraid of is HIM.”

Via WSJ.

UPDATE: And with very good reason, Judy. We have a newly discovered ebola patient in NYC, a doctor who should have known better after returning from West Africa. Instead, he rode the subway and went bowling in Brooklyn before he came down with 103 temperature. Now his girlfriend is quarantined and our brilliant federal health officials are canvassing his neighborhood for more victims. May it stay in the Northeast, thank you very much.

MORE:  New Yorkers are understandably upset and fearful—especially considering they are governed by Obola’s own party. Which is busy covering its ass before the elections. And backing-and-filling.
