The permanent government fights back

“Many of the 2.7 million bureaucrats employed by the federal government oppose President Donald Trump’s policies and are actively attempting to sabotage his agenda.

“That sabotage comes in several forms, from secretly circulating emails among fellow ideologically committed members of the federal bureaucracy plotting strategy, to working behind the scenes with Democratic legislators to create out-of-the ordinary bureaucratic actions, to leaking confidential documents to the press.”

The bureaucracy, being mainly Democrat, has always fought Republican presidents. Now, with former President Hussein egging them on by actively opposing his successor, Trump will have to change the civil service rules to beat them.

Barry’s sucker policy

Refugee refusal

I liked this idea when Trump first raised it during his campaign. I still like it despite the turmoil his executive order closing the door to refugees apparently has created at some airports here and elsewhere. It was bound to cause problems. The only way to avoid them would be to continue the refugee influx.

Which I never quite understood to begin with. I recall the Vietnamese refugee situation in the 1970s and early 80s when National Guard bases in Arkansas and Pennsylvania were used to house them until sponsors could be found for each family and the guarantee of a job. But that was a different age it seems.

Barry Hussein seems to have been dumping them into small American towns, particularly in the midwest, without much if any planning. Of course he wouldn’t have sought to bother the coastal cities, where most of his party’s votes come from. He was by far the most partisan president in a generation.

Just why we are supposed to take these people, most of them Middle Eastern Muslims, has never been clear to me. Because of the fighting in Iraq and Syria? Barry’s policies created the refugee problems in both those places. Perhaps that’s why he felt the need to take them. But that’s his problem. It shouldn’t be ours.

UPDATE: Dilbert creator and Trump supporter Scott Adams on Trump’s strategy. I just hope that in negotiating back to the middle we don’t wind up with more refugees. Send ’em to Europe. Let the Germs be overwhelmed. They haven’t atoned near enough for the Holocaust. Give it another thousand years.

I’m Black Y’all

That, right there, is the sum total of Bronco Bama’s legacy. The same one he had when he was elected in ’08 and again in ’12. And the same one he has in leaving the building. A novelty act for president and little more.

“President Obama is about to shuffle off the stage…as his term finally comes to a close. He has been spending the last weeks of his presidency celebrating himself. This has included giving himself some awards and giving a farewell address that no one bothered to watch. He and his old lady have been popping up on every liberal TV chat show, and sitting with even minor reporters, for farewell interviews. All of which is supposed to be a victory lap, but it feels more like last call at a local dive.”

We could go through here the long list of scandals of his eight years, the ones he denies and his lapdog Democrat news media still is helping him deny, but why bother? Most of his trash will be taken out by the new Trump administration and Obamacare will be excised. He didn’t lend it anything but his name and that was the media’s doing. As the Z Man concludes: Good Riddance.

For now. I’m sure we’ll be hearing Barry Hussein’s prattle for a long time to come. But he’ll be a whole lot easier to ignore.

Why Trump wants private security

Well, for one thing the Secret Service has lately been known to spend its time whoring. Then, there’s this little tidbit.

“Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer suggested Tuesday night that U.S. intelligence agencies could “get back at” President-elect Donald Trump after he questioned the legitimacy of the intelligence community’s probe into Russian involvement in the hacking of Democratic party officials.”

Remember the good old days when the bureaucracy was bi-partisan? Me neither.

Game of Thrones

Okay, okay, I’m five years late to the party. I snubbed this television series back in 2011 as just another sword and sorcery epic unworthy of my time or attention.

I was wrong. I did a marathon watching of the Game of Thrones first season yesterday, streaming all ten of the videos via Amazon. It is gripping. The author of the books (I’m also reading the first one now) well deserves his wealth and his home in Santa Fe.

The best thing about the series, as the fellow who wrote the introduction to the first book puts it, is the way it proves that no one in their right mind would want to live in medieval times. Even the rich then barely lived above the level of our lower middle class. Their faces are always dirty because they never bathe. The usual Hollywood incongruity of all those impeccably straight white teeth looks even more ridiculous. And instead of focusing on the sorcery, the story shows the real evil to be the people of the times. The powerless as well as the powerful.

And as the first season ended, I couldn’t help noticing the resemblance of our jug-eared fool of a president to the petulant boy king of the story, ordering heads chopped and throats cut at whim. Barry is just more sophisticated about it, presumably, cutting throats by destroying the economy and diverting our attention from his failures by pushing the country towards war. At least the television series is leavened by a few genuinely honorable people amidst the devastation. Otherwise it could not be entertaining.

John Kerry: Moral Midget

Bill Kristol on Twitter: John Kerry entered public life 45 years ago slandering his fellow American servicemen. He leaves it slandering America’s finest ally.

Lurch singlehandedly created the “baby killer” meme which dogged us for decades. Now he ignores the 500,000 Syrians killed in favor of slandering Israel.

Good riddance to a moral midget.
