Snowfall

Started up at the rancho about twenty minutes ago. Already lots of pictures people are taking around the area. This doesn’t happen often.

Dictator’s club helping Iran get the bomb

Oh, surely not. Not our global betters at the  house of internationalism. You know, the ones who rail against carbon footprints for us peons while foregoing Skype for themselves and all jetting off to Bali for a plush “climate” conference.

But so it seems, that the IAEA, the alleged non-proliferation agency of the dictator’s club–to whom our Congress sends $5 billion of our tax money every year– not only stalled for time to let Iran build its bomb but actually impeded those who might have stopped it. The blood will be on ElBaradei’s hands.

Ron Paul’s win

Is his CPAC straw poll win important? Sure, to his loud and loyal supporters. Otherwise, not so much. After all, he didn’t win a single Republican primary or caucus in 2008.

UPDATE:  The best speech at CPAC? Probably George Will here in three parts.

Rule 5

cindyc09Let’s face it folks. It can’t all be cub scouts and world-famous barn owls around here. Elsewise my diminished hit count from the recent switch from MT to WP will stay diminished. So, borrowing a hint (and the pix) from CG Hill in Oklahoma (not to mention TFG in San Antonio), here’s Rule 5 at work.

Spring is just around the corner

But, as the weather warriors at Accuweather dot com say: It could be a long walk to the end of the block.

Indeed, the Central Texas winter has already been twice as long as I’m used to. I bet the snow birds in the Valley and at Port A. are shaking their heads, too. Anyhow, our man Joe Bastardi says it’s going to be frigid for a while yet and Dallas may even see some more snow next week and again in March. Six to nine degrees below normal. Come on Spring. You can do it.

Global warming you say? Balderdash.

I Hate Apple

With Microsoft, that terrible monopoly according to the Starbucks crowd, there’s always a solution. With Apple, there’s always a roadblock.

Trying to move Mrs Charms’ iTunes files from the old computer to the new one requires a free utility called iTunes Export. So far so good. Which leads me to its compressed download which leads me to the alert that Stuffit needs to download its latest version which leads me to the news that this latest version, without which Export will not open, costs $49.99. I hate Apple.

Austin plane crash

Well, this is certainly weird. A little freelance suicide terrorism by air, though apparently not of the Islamic variety. That’s a change. The pilot even left an online manifesto (praising communism and calling capitalism “greedy”) re his target: an IRS audit office.

Caused a heckuva fire, but that figures, if the plane (one similar to this) was full of gas. About two miles north of the rancho, as it happens. This seems to be the guy’s (second) wife and daughter step-daughter. My condolences to them.

UPDATE:  Late Thursday, the daily was calling the plane a Cherokee Piper 140 four-seater, similar to this one, and saying there’s at least one dead besides the pilot, tentatively identified as the plane’s owner Andrew Joseph Stack III. Also at least one man burned and several with minor injuries. A WaPo columnist, among others, is blaming the Tea Partiers. Figures.

MORE:  Some people think the suicide terrorist was a “hero,” and it’s not who you might think.
