Heh

hope change 75 perecent off

Let the ridicule begin. Hope-n-change is declining in value. No surprise.

UPDATE:  VDH scores some ridicule hits with his “Obamarang” essay:

“Obama assures on eight occasions he will televise all health-care deliberations on C-SPAN. This [was] clear proof that nothing [would] be televised [and, indeed] debate occurr[ed] behind closed doors, punctuated by votes purchased through $300 million bribes and state exemptions from federal statutes.”

“Not true”

Justice Alito gets the headlines the day after Barry’s interminable SOTU speech for mouthing a silent “not true” as the president assaulted a Supreme Court decision he didn’t like, with the court sitting in front of him. His party cheered. They’re as dumb as he is. What a windbag. Three more years.

UPDATE:  The voters mouth their own “not true” to Barry’s alleged spending freeze. They’ve got his number. All talk and no action. And, he lies like a rug.

Graham Road Elementary

The recent to-do over Barry’s reliance on a teleprompter at an elementary school in Falls Church, VA, caught my eye. Not because of him or his prop but because of the school. I went there in 4th and 5th grades oh, so many years ago when my AF father was assigned to the Pentagon.

Fifth grade was fine. I even liked the teacher. But 4th was a little unusual. The teacher arranged the room so that she was sitting behind our rows of school desks. We figured it was to help her keep an eye on us, until several caught her drinking from a bottle she kept in one of the lower drawers.

Diddling with Paint Shop Pro X

I bought this software because it was about a tenth the price of Adobe’s Photoshop and, supposedly, does most of the same things. Indeed, it’s been dandy for creating DIY book covers for POD efforts, though it takes patience and careful following of the User Guide.

I’m just about ready to produce my Civil War historical novel. I rode the query-letter hamster wheel for seven months without getting a single look at the manuscript. I’m told one should plan to wait two years but, at my age, well… Besides, my usually-tough in-house editor loved it and so I’m moving on.

(Uh, I checked the dictionary too late. I chose an unfortunate verb for the headline. Should have been fiddling. Well, who knows? It may turn into another Roberta Vasquez moment.)

Hell hath no fury, etc.

The Motor City Maidens

04ladiesdetroit2010

This is as racy as we get around here, only because we’re trying to run a family blog, considering we have such diverse topics as Cub Scouts and Youth Basketball. But Instapundit says it never hurts the visitor total to throw a little sex into the mix. This lovely maiden (though I’d bet that “maiden” is a euphemism), also called a booth babe and unfortunately unidentified, is from this collection at the Autoblog.

Helping Haiti

My own preference for charity donations, for a helping hand in disasters and at major crime scenes, is the Salvation Army. The Red Cross has too much political baggage and too often discriminates, especially in the Middle East. The Sally, however, is pure good works. They don’t care whose side you’re on.
