My nominee for the Duranty Award

NBC Nightly News is my candidate for the Duranty for journalistic mendacity.

They have ignored Fast & Furious, Obama’s gun-running scheme to the Mexican drug cartels which has caused the deaths of hundreds of people. And when NBC finally did mention it, heh, they lied about it.

Or should that be, they screwed it up? Naw. They’re the overpaid liberal court media of our Permanent Political Class (PPC) and they still try to choose what we know, even though cable and the Internet have taken away their monopoly. NBC is one reason why AG Holder has been stonewalling Congress for so long.

It’s interesting that Holder says W’s administration started the gun running to Mexico (euphemistically called “gun-walking”) and, if true, that certainly merits Congressional investigation. But Holder has his own vulnerability which he can’t palm off on his predecessor. I’m with Senator Cornyn. Holder should resign. Immediately.

UPDATE: And here’s a good reason why:

Justifiable homicide in Shiner

Nice little town, Shiner, Texas. Home of the Shiner brewery. And now, unfortunately, on the news map for an incredible case of sexual assault on a 4-year-old girl.

For which her father, catching the pedophile in the act, dutifully beat the son of a bitch to death. If anyone will walk free for a killing, under Texas law on sexual assault of children, it will be this dad.

Texas: Economic engine of North America

“If you draw a triangle whose points are Houston, Dallas and San Antonio, enclosing Austin, you’ve just drawn a map of the economic and jobs engine of North America.

Texas prospers not just because of oil and gas, but thanks to a diversified and sophisticated economy. It has attracted large numbers of both immigrants and domestic migrants for a quarter-century. One in 12 Americans lives there.”

The riots to come

The riots? Over the likely acquittal of George Zimmerman, the part-black, half-Hispanic neighborhood watch guy accused (in the liberal mainstream media, at least) of being a white guy who killed an 11-year-old black cherub.

“Zimmerman never saw the cute little boy that the TV audience did.  He saw a full-grown man, a druggy, a wannabe street fighter, the tattooed, gold-grilled, self-dubbed “No_Limit_Nigga.”

“Media obfuscation may still work in the court of public opinion — it got Obama elected in 2008 — but it will not work in a court of law.  The truth will out.  When it does, the major media will lose a good chunk of whatever credibility they have left, and our nation may lose a good chunk of its urban real estate.”

FYI:  I’m with Instapundit in thinking that this called day of “Blogger Silence” isn’t the way to protest harassment of bloggers. Blogging is. And pulling a PR stunt on a Friday is pretty dumb. You want ink and air-time, try Tuesday.

This is my idea of a firearm

The Amateur

The most amazing revelation in Edward Klein’s The Amateur is that the Obamas dropped the folks who got them to the White House. Never called, never wrote, didn’t even take their calls.

Talk about a sense of entitlement. And an amateurish approach to politics, the profession of the glad hand and constant stroking. Others’ hands and strokings. Not Barry’s. Presumably they’re rebuilding some of those bridges, now that they’re not running away in the polls and will need help to keep their lease.

The book is too short for the $10 Kindle price (much of it is footnotes on sources), but worth it for what it is. The liberal court media has been hiding all this for almost four years now. So Klein has done us all a favor. As, apparently, will the next insider book Barack Obama: The Story.

The latter’s revelations about Obama’s extensive use of marijuana and cocaine in high school and college are eye-openers that could have cost him the election had they been known in 2008. After reading Klein you have to wonder if the narcissist-in-chief is also doing dope in the White House while his appointees hypocritically pursue the drug war.
