Capitalism vs Socialism

Wormtongue’s persistent complaints about inequality of income and/or wealth—you, know, the 1 percent and all that Lefty humbug—is based on such as French socialist economist Thomas Piketty’s book “Capitalism In The 21st Century.”

Comes now a Financial Times review of the book to say that not only did Piketty misinterpret his own data, but he appears to have exaggerated it to make the inequality worse than it really is. Boy, now there’s a surprise.

Meanwhile, while the Worm bashes the folks whose private investments actually create jobs, his prime constituency, black Americans, have the worst employment prospects of all.

Democrat Economy: unsold cars go to rot

cars94

This an airfield’s runway near St. Petersburg, Russia, but other vast, impromptu carparks can be found in England, Spain and, probably, Arizona. Heck, probably Texas, but I know of none yet,

In the stagnant Democrat Economy (which we could blame on Wormtongue’s constant griping about the weathy who don’t pay his graft but he’s just the figurehead of his corrupt party) folks like us at the rancho are making our cars last a decade or more rather than going into debt to buy another one. And the result is….

UPDATE:  Well, now, was Miriam (and through her me) bamboozled on this tale? Could be. Could always be. But, as they say, consider the source. Zero Hedge has always seemed to be a pretty reliable business blog.

I never heard of the blog calling b.s. on it, Snopes isn’t always reliable, and the Mirror? Well… This one, OTOH, is a bit more persuasive. So I believe we should all sit this one out for a bit longer.

Why We’re Getting So Many Californicators

“California is a de facto one-party state where no Republican, or even moderate Democrat, can win statewide office. Californians decided at some point that they wanted the worst business environment in the country, terrible public schools, massive waves of illegal immigrants, and job-crushing environmental regulations. And they have, accordingly, elected a one-party Government to deliver those things.”

And folks who don’t like it are leaving in droves. Many of them are coming here, another one-party state. Well, almost. The Democrats haven’t won a statewide Texas office in almost two decades.

Not that I mind. Not at all. Although I could do with fewer Californicators clogging our highways. I do appreciate the seller’s market they’ve helped make of Austin real estate, however.

Democrat lesson: how to screw the economy

It ain’t rocket science. Just plain old greed and an urge to grow the Democrat bureaucracy.

“Yes, you read that right: net job growth has declined under Obama.  And by the end of  the second year of their terms as President, economic growth under Reagan averaged 7.1% , under Obama an anemic 2.8%.

“So, how did Reagan manage it? Across-the-board tax cuts, non-defense spending cuts, a restrained monetary supply, and deregulation.

“What’s Obama done? Tax increases, spending increases, a massive money-supply increase through ‘quantitative easing,’ and an explosive increase in regulations.”

Read. It. All.

I-35 to serfdom

Wormtongue, not content with destroying more jobs by restricting the use of coal, oil and natural gas in order to fight the Democrat myth of global warming, is concocting new regulations to force interstate highway drivers to pay federal tolls.

Dislike taking off your shoes and being pawed at airports? Now you can queue up at toll booths every dozen miles or so. Or let the feds install a tracking device on your car so they know who paid and who didn’t, where they went and when.

The fabled land of liberty is going, going gone. As Instapundit says, we’re on the road to serfdom. Indeed, the interstate highway to serfdom.

The fly in the global warming ointment

No matter what you think of the latest Democrat report that a) the globe is warming b) it’s all our fault and c) more taxes and higher energy costs will save humanity:

“Since even immediate and total shutdown of [ALL] carbon dioxide-emitting vehicles, power plants, and factories in the U.S. would decrease global warming by only a hypothetical and undetectable two-tenths of a degree Celsius by 2100, it is misleading to imply, as the report does, that the Obama administration’s climate policies can provide any measurable protection from extreme weather events.”

China and India are likely to have bigger impacts and they don’t have a truculent fool for a president. Not that this will stop the Democrats, you understand. All rather similar to the other Democrat lies that Obamacare would reduce health care costs and if you like your insurance you can keep it.

The army that’s bigger than China’s

Remington 700

And, oh by the way, Wormtongue and his political party have succeeded in driving many of the country’s gun makers to the South, where they belong. Which, as it happens, is where a good many (if not most) of that army bigger than China’s resides.

Bet you didn’t know that the original Mr. Remington’s first name was Eliphalet. The company is keeping its HQ in New York State but, thanks to the Democrat governor’s inane anti-gun stance, is sending 2,000 jobs to Alabama. Yee Haw!
