The 9/11 Generation

They are the best memorial of that terrible time six years ago today: They continue to join the military, particularly the Army and Marines, despite the rigors of repeated deployments and the probability of combat. Thus the two services met or exceeded their recruitment goals again last month.

Dead man talking

The O man, or his sound-a-like imposter, has a new video, just in time for the anniversary Tuesday.

Headline stolen from LGF

What the CIA missed (no surprise)

Why the O man’s "new" video could be a forgery. Tricked up with "freeze framing":

"All references to current events, such as the 62nd anniversary of the U.S. atomic bombing of Japan, and Sarkozy and Brown being the leaders of France and the UK, respectively, occur when the video is frozen!"

So, uh, maybe, the dark beard is neither phony nor dyed. But just, uh, you know, old.

Bad 9/11 prediction

Instapundit, six years ago Tuesday:

"…the TV footage of jubilant Palestinians just proves what I’ve always suspected — they just don’t get it. They’ll learn. Oh, how they’ll learn…their jubilation will be long remembered. The American role as ‘mediator’ in the Middle East is over. Since — though they don’t realize it — that’s the only thing that has kept the Palestinians in the game since 1991, their future is likely to be grim, now."

Hasn’t turned out that way, after all, as the Gazan Entity’s rockets continue to rain down on Israel.

Osama bin hilarious

What a joker, that O man, or whatever character is playing him in the latest video. Million laughs transcript here. He wants us all to convert to Islam, so we won’t be burdened with taxes and, especially, interest-bearing mortgages. Notice how he seems to have grown younger. Could he be dyeing his beard? It’s dark now, and it used to be gray. Shocking infidel behavior. The CIA is convinced it’s the real Osama. Big whoop. They were convinced the Soviet Union would be around for another hundred years, and 9/11 would be just another day.

UPDATE: Looks like even the conservatives are buying it, after a fashion, unveiling me as a 12th tier blogger. But that’s no surprise, right? So, the O man, they say, is alive (somewhere) and wearing a fake beard to keep the troops happy. Or something like that. But Roger L. Simon ain’t buying it.

Sept 11

There’s talk that we should stop commemorating 9/11, almost six years–next Tuesday, in fact– after the event. That all it does is perpetuate the anger. Part of the therapeutic society’s perpetual need to move on, I suppose. Then there’s Dec. 7, an anniversary that is still being commemorated, almost sixty-six years after it happened. Has that perpetuated hatred of the Japanese? Not when you consider all of the Sonys and Toyotas we buy. Had they not been beaten severely, I suppose the Japanese might like to remember it annually, as well. The O man apparently does, if you believe he’s still alive. I still think he died at Tora Bora, or soon after. But even if he is alive, I don’t see us doing him, or his followers, any favors by remembering the day the towers fell. Rather, we do ourselves the favor to go on remembering it, in the hope that it won’t happen again.
