Good luck to the IDF
I wish it wasn’t necessary to put the brave young men and women of the Israel Defense Forces in harm’s way in Gaza, but after the terrorists of Hamas and its ragtag hangers-on fired rockets acquired from Iran at Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, it seems to be necessary.
According to Austin’s private, open-source intelligence company Stratfor,
“….during Cast Lead [in 2008], they operated at night and creat[ed] their own crossing points [into Gaza] as opposed to using previously established points.
“They also relied heavily upon combat engineers, armored construction equipment including unmanned D9 bulldozers, and dog teams to establish their own avenues of approach instead of using common routes through Gaza.
“Ground units also worked in heavy conjunction with air assets for reconnaissance and close air support, and had access to comprehensive artillery support. This allowed them to avoid improvised explosive devices, heavily mined primary access routes, ambushes and counterattacks militants had planned near the assumed IDF approaches.”
But they’re bound to face surprises this time which could see more of them killed and crippled, each one a major tragedy for their immediate family and everyone in such a small country.
“Already in this round of fighting, unconfirmed reports have emerged saying that militants are using [shoulder-fired ground-to-air anti-aircraft missiles]. If these rumors are true, it could force a more limited role for rotary-wing air support as well as anti-tank guided missiles and thus seriously hamper the firepower, cover and protection provided by armor.”

UPDATE: Meanwhile, the IDF asks bloggers and news media not to say exactly where one of these unguided Hamas rockets lands, which might help them improve their targeting. Done.
Government media aids Barry’s cover-up
“Because the media hasn’t done so, along with Sens. Lindsey Graham and Kelly Ayotte, McCain is calling for Watergate-style hearings into the White House’s dishonest and/or incompetent handling of everything surrounding Libya:
“the lack and pulling of security in the wake of growing threats, the failure to send reinforcements during the seven-hour attack, and a false two-week narrative spun and sharpened over time by an administration that without any evidence whatsoever blamed the attack on a spontaneous protest.”
So, natch, Barry’s court news media—which has been frantically retailing a choking smoke screen of White House leaks on the Petraeus sex scandal—is going after McCain & Co.
Hey, dumbutts, four Americans were murdered in Benghazi: an ambassador and three others, two of them brave soldiers. How about questioning authority for a change? You know, like you were taught in journalism school?

Moral models at the, uh, CIA
“A lady said to me yesterday wasn’t it terrible that the Director of Central Intelligence should provide such a poor moral model for the CIA?
“’Wouldn’t you think,’ I said, “that an agency whose business is to spy, steal, cheat, lie and probably kill dozens of people each month would be somewhat less than shocked at something like marital infidelity.
“That how curious it was that an agency like the FBI should find the time to investigate threatening emails? How passingly strange it is that the FBI should authorize any kind of investigation of its rival the CIA unless it was a big deal?’” —-Richard Fernandez
Well, it’s a big deal for some people. Barry and Hillary, for certain. Probably the FBI, as well.
But most Americans? I doubt it. If they couldn’t be bothered to vote last week, and more than seven million of them couldn’t, then why would they get exercised about whatever it is that’s really going on behind the Petraeus-Allen-Broadwell-Kelly sexual smoke screen? Especially when the Democrat media is still struggling to keep Benghazi buried and, so far, most of the Republicans in Congress are cooperating.
With the notable exceptions, at least in words, of Lindsay Graham and John McCain.

“It’s party time, chumps”
This is a funny video. Also a weird video. But weird can be funny, so long as it’s not mean or ugly. No pejoratives were used in the making of this video, unlike so much of the toxicity that passes for “culture” in America today.
The quote of the headline is put in Romney’s mouth in the video, and it’s very appropriate considering what half the electorate did to him on Tuesday. They rejected his sunny optimism and a good chance at lower unemployment and renewed prosperity and, instead, opted for four more dreary years of the Liar President and his nasty, divisive politics.
It’s party time, chumps: half celebration, half wake in the new divided states of America.
Now we’ll see what Barry has (secretly) planned for us and endure what he has promised: the death of the coal industry and subsequent astronomical electric rates burdening business and the middle class; higher gasoline prices for everyone as the EPA further undercuts our oil industry; the most expensive and intrusive entitlement ever in Obamacare; a further downsizing of our Navy, Army, Marines and Air Force; and who knows what mischief to come in the Middle East.
Nothing good for Israel, I’m sure. Get ready for a nuclear Iran and a dramatic shift in the balance of world power to the dictators King Barry loves so much.
UPDATE: Today, I’m sure we’ll be assaulted with the usual blather about why Romney lost. Republicans need to be more “Progressive,” tune in to women and Hispanics, and blah, blah, blah.
It’s really much more simple. As my mother-in-law said months ago, Willard had no balls. He let Barry get off on Benghazi instead of hammering him for lying to the world. That and the fact that half the electorate apparently still get their views from the Obamedia.

NOW they want to build a dike
If you can make it in the Big Apple, the outdated Frank Sinatra lyric has it, you can make it anywhere. Supposedly. Well, they had their chance and plenty of warnings from Gulf Coast hurricanes, but NYC is only now getting around to planning to make a harbor dike against hurricane storm surges. Now that the seahorse has left the aquarium.
It’s really not a big surprise for a city whose pols concern themselves with soda cup sizes and the fat content of fast food. This is, after all, the city of Windows on The Hole, the seven-story pit which, in addition to a new, nearby, mosque is still a memorial to Osama bin Laden, more than eleven years after the man-in-the-cave rearranged the NY skyline.
Turns out the subway wasn’t the only thing that Hurricane Sandy’s storm surge flooded with old sewage from the East River. Windows on The Hole got it also. And that was perfectly fitting.
Via Instapundit.
UPDATE: Thanks to current environmental laws, however, it could take forever to build a dike. Same problem Windows On The Hole has, in addition to NYC’s modern Can’t-Do Spirit. Unless it involves soda cups, of course.
MORE: Another part of the problem is the Democrat news media which is playing pattycake this time: “It’s like a Katrina rerun, with Obama as Bush, Bloomberg as Ray Nagin, and Staten Island as the 9th Ward. Only the press is going light on the President this time. . . ”
