Wire-tapping Dr. King

One of these years, before they’re all dead, the Democrats who initiated, authorized and carried out the wire-tapping and bugging of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s private life ought to use one of these national holidays to  ‘fess up and do some public hand-wringing.

Maybe one of the Kennedy children would speak out on behalf of the deceased wire-tappers and electronic buggers JFK and RFK? I know, it isn’t likely. Just s’posin’.

The Left’s favorite sanctimonious Baptist preacher, Bill Moyers, knows (and did) plenty in this and other regards for JFK’s successor Democrat LBJ. But it’s very unlikely the man some call J. Edgard Moyers will ever confess, let alone apologize. Nope, no mea culpas for Iago.

Bad Bill II

PBS’s favorite sanctimonious liberal commentator Bill Moyers wasn’t just involved in the wiretapping of MLK. He also investigated the sexual preferences of Sen. Barry Goldwater’s aides. Where will Bad Bill II strike next?

UPDATE:  J. Edgar Moyers is an even better name for him. Love to see the Fairness Doctrine applied to him.

Dr. King’s wiretapper

Used to be (and probably still is) that any appearance at the LBJ Library by PBS poohbah Bill Moyers drew an SRO crowd. Mainly aging, LBJ liberals yearning for the Great Society. They apparently never knew this side of the old Baptist hypocrite:

"His part in Lyndon Johnson and J. Edgar Hoover’s bugging of Martin Luther King’s private life, the leaks to the press and diplomatic corps, the surveillance of civil rights groups at the 1964 Democratic Convention…"

That’s from CBS newsman Morley Safer’s memoir Flashbacks. Liberal fascists do make strange bedfellows.

Softballs for Wright

In general, I don’t care for Bill Moyers’ politics and I resent the fact that my tax money pays part of his salary at National Progressive Radio/Television. So I wasn’t surprised to see all the stuff he could have asked but didn’t in his interview with Jeremiah Wright. So the interview, while worth a glance at the transcript where you can skip around without having to listen to the whole thing, is half-baked from the get-go. I presume Moyers didn’t ask Wright about his AIDS conspiracy theory and his slurs on the founders Washington and Jefferson because even Moyers knows they are indefensible. But, as Power Line puts it, God damn America still means God damn America. And that’s enough politics for a while. I’m sick of it, too.

UPDATE: Here’s the full, unedited and extremely damning context that Moyers is helping Wright hide. If you take time (if you care) to examine the context, you’ll be amazed at how even the Associated Press is following Moyers’ lead in obfuscating Wright. Or just take AP’s version and go back to sleep.
