Ehud Goldwasser and Eldad Regev, R.I.P.

A real baby killer goes free, while two soldiers of the right come home dead, two years after they were captured patrolling the Israel-Lebanon border. But revenge will come, too, and it will be sweet.

Israel’s struggle with media bias

Israel shot itself in the foot in several ways last summer when it responded to a Hez provocation by going to war in Lebanon. But the MSM did the rest, becoming a propaganda organ for Hez, according to a new Harvard study showing how…

"…the trajectory of the media [shifted] from objective observer to fiery advocate, becoming in fact a weapon of modern warfare. The paper also shows how an open society, Israel, is victimized by its own openness and how a closed sect, Hezbollah, can retain almost total control of the daily message of journalism and propaganda."

This is something new. Almost in the "when pigs fly" category.

Panic in Lebanon

The "poisoned" green balloons of death, according to Hezbollah. A benign newspaper promotional gimmick which drifted on the wind into southern Lebanon, according to the Israelis. But the moonbats and their terrorist pals will never believe that. Quick, someone call Jimmy Carter!

Coup d’etat in Lebanon

AP’s version is inside the crowd, with views of armed police and troops, but no Hez militia in sight.

"Hundreds of thousands of protesters from Hezbollah and its pro-Syrian allies massed Friday in downtown Beirut seeking to force the resignation of Western-backed Prime Minister Fuad Saniora, who was holed up in his office ringed by hundreds of police and combat troops."

Pajamas Media’s Michael J. Totten had no trouble finding the militia or other context.

"The Hizbullah militia has laid siege to the government building, trapping the prime minister and cabinet ministers inside. Roadblocks were set up by Hizbullah members in what can only be described as coup d’etat…Saudi King had to intervene through his ambassador, to ‘partially’ remove the siege.

"Hizbullah ‘tents’ are still on the roads, isolating the government building. The Saudi king phoned the cabinet and spoke to all ministers one by one, affirming his support. The only countries NOT supporting this government are Syria and Iran.’

AP gets one strategic point clear: Bush considers Lebanon a central front in the war. It is, indeed.

Night Patrol

Compelling video report on a night patrol into Lebanon by Regiment 931 of Israel’s Nahal Brigade. Well, I had it for a while, then the link broke at On The Face, where you will have to go and hunt for the post under the innocuous title: Something to Watch. Check that. Even that general link is denying access from this site. Don’t know what I did. Could be because my trackback was rejected? Or the author of OTF decided I was not of sufficient caliber, or something. Too bad. It’s a great video, if you can get to the site on your own. Google it. Or try Israelly Cool’s link, they’re allowing this site so far. So go there and clink on their Lisa Goldman link, which is trackbacked to OTF. I’m missing something here in the great blogospheric game. It’s worth the hassle. Will even help clear up the mystery of those showercap helmet covers some Israeli troops wear. They must work in camoflaging a shooter. Because no one self-respecting infantryman would wear them otherwise. They make one look like a mushroom.

Who won, again?

If Hez really won the recent dustup with the IDF, why is the Lebanese PM talking about peace treaties with Israel? Heresy! And why is Amir Taheri saying in the Wall Street Journal that Iran’s "supreme guide" Ali Khamenei is going to be sorry that he gets his news from CNN? (As if anyone wouldn’t be).
