Democrats shut down I-35 South

Well, actually it was the local Austin version of Black Lives Matter. But BLM is an ally of Democrat presidential candidate Ma Barker. She’s met with their national group to plan strategy for their protests. Which they turned on her rival Bernie Sanders.

So, to my mind, BLM is a Democrat operative outfit. And what they do is a Democrat do.

The shutdown of the southbound lanes of I-35 through downtown Austin began at 1 p.m. and lasted about ten minutes with cops blockading the lanes so nobody would be run over. I bet the drivers were just thrilled as all get out. You wanna bet this will convince them to vote Democrat? No, I don’t think so either.

UPDATE:  The chief Democrat, our Barry Hussein, also plumps for BLM.

Barry Hussein: abortion ghoul

“It’s not surprising that a pro-abortion president would veto any legislation to defund Planned Parenthood. But you have to wonder what kind of ghoul would oppose the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which is designed to protect already-born infants.

“The bill, sponsored by pro-life Congressman Trent Franks [an Arizona Republican], ‘would make failure to provide standard medical care to children born alive during an abortion a federal crime. It would also apply stronger penalties in cases where an overt act is taken to kill the abortion survivor.’”

This is right in keeping with his time in the Illinois legislature when, though usually taking no position on anything and merely voting “present,” he voted against any restriction on abortion, including banning late-term ones.

Our Barry Hussein knows it’s those post-21 weeks abortions that provide the most mature organs for the baby chop shop. He’s not only going to save the abortion mill for poor (mainly black) women who (supposedly) can’t afford contraception (or can’t be bothered to use it), he’s going to keep the baby chop shop, ahem, alive and well.

At least the RINOs, knowing they’d probably lose, had the guts to try.

Israel’s 9/11 Memorial

Twin_Towers_Memorial_in_Israel-1024x906

The Palestinians, along with many other Arabs, danced in the streets on 9/11. Our Israeli friends did not and they used some Twin Towers steel to make this memorial.

Go get ’em, Carly

If there’s one thing the Democrat snooze media can’t stand it’s criticizing their beloved Planned Parenthood, which really ought to be named Preventing Parenthood because that’s the main thing they do.

So when Carly called out PP for selling the organs (including brains) of viable but aborted babies at the GOP dog and pony show last night, guess who jumped all over her? Who else but cBSABCNBCCNNWaPoNYTLAT,etc. And the obedient local snooze sheep who follow their every word, wagging their tails behind them.

They claim she made it up. Mollie Hemingway at The Federalist shows you that she didn’t. Mollie even invites you to watch the video in question, if you have a strong stomach.

Should, as Carly says, PP be defunded? Sounds good to me. What is this abortion conglomerate doing drawing federal tax money in the first place? Ah, you should ask the Democrats. And, of course, their RINO allies.

UPDATE:  House votes to defund PP for one year, while investigating PP’s fetal parts business. One whole year?! Gad those RINOs are gutsy. A pox on all of them.

Second chemo round Thursday

We’re about 24 hours away from the beginning of Mrs. Charm’s second round of high-dose chemo for her recurring lymphoma, this time at Seton Hospital in central Austin. And it can’t come too soon. Her two-week recovery from the first round at M.D. Anderson in Houston has not been very pleasant. Her abdomen pain is back and the fever also, though neither are as bad as they were before the first round and the fever, at least is lower and it comes and goes.

The fever (possibly signifying an infection) will have to be gone before they’ll start the second round, according to the Austin doctor with Texas Oncology who will handle it. We met with him on Monday. The good news was that the swelling of her leg (called lymphedema) had diminished almost back to normal. The bad news is that it is swelling again. At least she has not been much bothered by nausea from the first round, though she has had trouble sleeping and so is tired much of the time and has little energy.

Once the second round has been over for two weeks, around Oct. 5, we’ll go back to M.D. Anderson for tests to determine if a culminating third round would be meaningful. If so it will be done in Austin again. If not, her Anderson doc will enroll her in a clinical trial of an experimental drug, probably there in Houston. Other alternatives also may be available. So we’ve got a ways to go yet. As always, thoughts and prayers are appreciated.

Steve Patterson: Hatchet Man

My old friend Marcos the barber has the best take I’ve heard yet on why Texas athletic director Steve Patterson was fired today. Marcos, a devoted Longhorns fan, figures they hired Patterson to impose a long list of changes, take the heat for all of it and then be fired for it, making the university look innocent. With a bonus, in addition to his guaranteed $1.4 million  a year through 2019.

Among other things, Patterson cleared the basketball and football decks of white head coaches and hired black head coaches for what are, after all, mostly black teams: Shaka Smart and Charlie Strong. He also raised ticket prices at the football stadium, instituted sales there of beer and cleared some of the deadwood donors from their box seats to make room for new, richer blood. None of which changes are likely to be reversed, according to Marcos, since they are undoubtedly what the U. wanted all along.

“Arrogant, uncaring, humorless,” the daily’s Kirk Bohls describes Patterson. In other words the perfect hatchet man. If you ever read it in the local snooze media just remember you saw it here first. Courtesy of my friend Marcos.

I Am Stoopid

That’s the slogan on the tee shirts they should give free to everyone who attends (and applauds) a Bernie Sanders speech. You know, the Democrat front-runner.

“…much more humane,” continues commentor ThaiSmile, an anonymouse at Instapundit, “than putting them in stocks to be ridiculed, or branding with an appropriate letter so they won’t be confused with real functioning human beings.”

Re “a good old-fashioned fisking” at Power Line titled: “Bullshit From Bernie.”

Such as the notion that Muslims are supposed to do unto infidels, etc: “The idea that the Golden Rule sums up the universal wisdom of religious faith is very silly, but is commonly held by non-religious people.” People like Bernie-the-atheist.

Haven’t read a good fisking in years? Me neither. As Insty says: Read. It. All.
