Israel’s one-sided road rage

No Palis hurt, no settlers involved, so no big Western media whoop-de-do. Just more babble about the two-state solution. How’s that for court-media cynicism?

“Yesterday a car carrying a husband and wife – Jewish residents of a Jordan Valley community inside the green line – came under fire from a passing car between Rimonim and Kochav HaShachar in the Binyamin region (located outside the green line).

“The husband (who was driving) was wounded by the gunfire and lost control of the car.  His wife was injured in the subsequent roll-over/crash caused by attack.”

I’m paying more attention to these items, being just about thirty days away from visiting Israel. Altho I’m sure my host and guide, Mr. Goon, will not be taking me anywhere outside the green line.

UPDATE:  When they do report on Israel, the increasingly irrelevant court media lies. Not that they didn’t before.

Eddie Bernice, crookin’

It’s pathetic the way these black politicians apparently figure that their personal and racial grievances entitle them to steal from the system when they get the opportunity. “Unknowingly,” the Dallas Democrat claims. Yeah, I’ll just bet. Sort of like the First Lady’s extravagant vacation in Spain, also on the taxpayers’ dime, only on a smaller scale.

Sarah packs ’em in

You could say that Glenn Beck did it, brought the 300,000 to 500,000 folks to the mall in D.C. today. But who wants to look at him? Must have been Sarah.

Meanwhile, the Obamalot court media just happens to have fallen in line with the same two-word assessment of the crowd i.e. “overwhelmingly white.” Yeah, let’s keep it racial, boys, like you always do. You’ve  spent two years branding most of the country racist, homophobic, Islamophobic, etc. Ever wonder if that could be the source of your circulation and financial woes? Might.

Bunny Show Jumping

I knew rabbit meat was tasty. You can even find it in some groceries, if you ask discreetly or know where to look. But leave it to the Danes to not only make pets of bunnies, but to train them in a sort of miniature steeplechase. Ta-da!

Democrat deficits

DeficitsThe best reason of all to vote the bums out in November. They whined about Bush’s deficit spending on Iraq and Afghanistan, then look what happened to the deficit when they took over the budget process in 2008. Va-va-voom!

USS Olympia to be closed

Speaking of plastic (see below), I once built a really pretty plastic model (probably fifty years ago) of Olympia, a Spanish-American War battleship. I had no idea the real thing was in the Delaware River docked at Philadelphia.

And now that I know, I learn it’s to be closed in November. No more visits. Maybe even scrapped or sunk for an artificial reef. Lordy. Fortunately, Craig Swain has a photo tour for you right here. Maybe Corpus Christi should buy it. It’s smaller than the Lex. Or Galveston. It’s as shapely as the Elissa. As if they need more antique ships. Still…

UPDATE:  Seems, according to this link supplied by Craig, that the Olympia was done in by some criminality among its Philadelphia management.

The USS Alligator

You’ve heard of the Confederacy’s prototype submarine CSS Hunley. But did you know that the Union had a similar one called USS Alligator?

“Consider their Civil War service:
The Confederate Hunley was credited with sinking a Union ship.
The Union Alligator aborted its first mission because it couldnt dive in shallow river water.

“The Hunley was believed to have sunk in combat.
The Alligator went down in a storm while being towed to Charleston, S.C.
The Hunley sank with eight men aboard.
The Alligator was unmanned when it sank.

“The Hunley was the object of an extensive search [Discovered by Dr. E. Lee Spence in 1970] and an eventual recovery in 2000.
The Alligator until now had been largely forgotten.”

More here, with cool models of each submarine.
