Single Source Fake News

Back in the day (it doesn’t seem to have been 11 years, but it was) editors required two independent sources for a “sources said” news story. Nowadays, even the WaPo will go with one. Amazing. Fake news by definition.

“…the news media no longer bothers to uphold any of its alleged standards. It was not that long ago that editors required two sources that were actual human beings with a credible claim to know the material. Newspapers might bend this rule, but they never went with copy that contained sources unknown to the editor. That’s no longer the case as editors no long exist in sufficient numbers to police it and the remaining ones simply don’t care. Anything goes so its all fake sources now.”

That’s the Z Man complaining about sports “news,” specifically ESPN “news,” which is mainly rumors about rumors, but it applies to news news as well. Hence the WaPo’s (also known as the Jeff Bezos Blog’s) numerous anti-Trump stories based on a single source. Who presumably is known to the editors, but maybe not.

CNN recently retracted a single source Trump hit piece—and three employees have resigned over it—when it was called out as fake by Breitbart News. Amazing that they retracted, considering they’ve been calling Breitbart “white supremacist” claptrap.

Maybe there’s hope for a comeback of those “alleged standards.”

Climate Change is Fake News

If the Gorebot’s championing of it, while maintaining a mansion with a very high electric utility bill and flying in a private jet, wasn’t enough of a clue there’s his prediction of years ago that we would all be drowning by now.

Moreover, there’s the famous scientific consensus. It’s unraveling:

“Last year there were at least 60 peer-reviewed papers published in scientific journals demonstrating that today’s warming isn’t global, unprecedented, or remarkable.

“Just within the last 5 months, 58 more papers and 80 new graphs have been published that continue to undermine the popularized conception of a slowly cooling Earth temperature history followed by a dramatic hockey-stick-shaped uptick, or an especially unusual global-scale warming during modern times.”

Climate change, aka global warming, always has been a leftist schuck and that’s becoming more and more obvious—even as the Mediacrats and Mr. Platitude (Bronco Bama) himself continue to push it.

Run, Hide, Tell

“Churchill’s famous speech of British defiance against her foes was delivered on June 4, 1940: ‘We shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender[.]’

“77 years later, his countrymen are being told to flee, cower, and call for Mummy. Shame.”

Fighting back is much more appropriate, and generally more effective.

London: Fake News In The Making

“This is a good example of fake news of an unusually important kind. One of the great issues of our time is whether ‘normal’ Muslims are willing to take decisive action against Islamic terrorism. The evidence so far is not encouraging; if it were, CNN and the AP wouldn’t need to stage photo-ops.”

UPDATE:  Incredibly, Certainly Not News’ allies in the biz (including Fox) ignored the video showing them handing out the protest signs and did standard denial stories like the video never existed. So did Snopes, which has become utterly untrustworthy.

Why Trump Should Dump The Paris Accords

“The Paris Accords on Climate,” writes scifi author Jerry Pournelle, “have reduced Germany to a state in which electricity is a luxury good according to Der Spiegel; so naturally President Trump is exhorted to agree to this nonsense.

“After all, the Europeans have; why should we be spared the economic pain? Surely Europe’s misery from self inflicted wounds is a more pressing problem for the US than the agenda Mr. Trump was elected for? Perhaps Senator McCain will tell us what the Paris Accords will do for the Earth, Europe, South America, various other places, and, perhaps even how they would affect the United States. We have natural gas; making it more expensive will certainly help Russia. Perhaps that’s it.”

Naw. President Trump should dump the accords on the climate schuck as soon as possible. Let the Mediacrats, Europe and the “Resistance” howl. They would find something to bitch about anyway.

UPDATE: More reasons to dump the accords: “American families would be paying more while making less.

MORE: He did it, we’re withdrawn! Let the anguished howling begin!

Trump’s little joke

He tweeted a typo: “Despite the negative press covfefe.” It went viral.

Covfefe? The scolds of the fake news site Certainly Not News, which is anti-Trump 24/7, said the Internet was “baffled.”

Actually, much of the blogosphere enjoyed the joke. “It’s Slovenian for gotcha suckers!” wrote commenter exildedonmainstreet at althouse.blogspot.com

Indeed, Trump soon followed up with: “Who can figure out the true meaning of ‘covfefe’??? Enjoy!”

Nice to see that he has the self-confidence to be self-deprecating, even under constant Mediacrat attack. Unlike some other presidents the Mediacrats adored.

UPDATE:  Sean Spicer gets a dry little joke out of it and Allahpundit concludes it may have been the go word for SEAL Team 6 to seize North Korea’s nuclear facilities.

An American Hero: A Texas Son

“Roy Benavides served two tours in Vietnam as a Green Beret.  During his second tour in 1968 he would be involved in an enemy action for which he was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross.

“In 1973, after more detailed accounts became available, Special Forces Lieutenant Colonel Ralph R. Drake insisted that Benavidez receive the Medal of Honor. By then, however, the time limit on the medal had expired. An appeal to Congress resulted in an exemption for Benavidez, but the Army Decorations Board denied him an upgrade of his Distinguished Service Cross to the Medal of Honor. The Army board required an eyewitness account from someone present during the action; however, Benavidez believed that there were no living witnesses of the “Six Hours in Hell.”

“Unbeknownst to Benavidez, there was a living witness, who would later provide the eyewitness account necessary: Brian O’Connor, the former radioman of Benavidez’s Special Forces team in Vietnam. O’Connor had been severely wounded (Benavidez had believed him dead), and he was evacuated to the United States before his superiors could fully debrief him.”
