Read it and weep, Sennacherib

ISIS has torn down some of your handiwork, oh ancient one, in a fit of Islamic fundamentalism.

“The Gate of Mashki was built during the era of the Assyrian King Sennacherib in 705-681 B.C. It was located east of Mosul, the capital of Nineveh province, which was taken over by Islamic State forces in June 2014.

“Photographs distributed by Islamic State on Sunday show militants using at least one bulldozer to knock down the ancient ruin, although it was unclear when the action took place. National Geographic said in April that it had obtained images revealing the destruction of the Mashki Gate and the nearby Adad Gate, built around 700 B.C., by Islamic State.”

Financial barometer heading up?

Andy fixes a roof fan on the No Princess Palace while noticing evidence of a financial turnaround in the South Texas fracking patch. We can only hope. No help from our witless president and his greedy political party,of course.

Daddy Bush’s Junkyard of Popped Hoods

highway-of-death-iraq-56

1991’s so-called “highway of death,” Muslim exaggeration worthy of Pallywood at its most pathetic. Of course the leftist American snooze media ate it whole. Those dastardly American soldiers, may their name be erased!

Punching holes in your bucket list

Alas, we can but mourn the passing of one Robert Hartwell Fiske, he of the Vocabula Review and an unparalleled concern for our declining language.

“I’m not sure when, precisely, Robert Fiske signed on to fight the pollution of empty jargon, idiotic euphemism, self-serving imprecision, comic redundancy and nonsense generally. He had earlier worked as a copy editor for the Addison-Wesley publishing company and then as a freelance editor. A passion for correct English at some point must have turned into an obsession. Robert was apparently obsessive in other realms: He was a weightlifter and a man who went on 10-mile treks carrying 50 pounds of bricks in a backpack.”

His Vocabula Review was far more reasonable. Have a look.

The murderer vs the clown

Much as I despise Andrew Sullivan, that crowd-following anti-Semite who’s played catcher far too long, his latest at least provides a springboard for chat—thanks to Althouse.

“…one is exciting, risky, and entertaining. The other is dreary, predictable, and medicinal.” Medicinal with unknown but probably deadly side-effects.

Ambassador Stevens could not be reached for comment. And I think (see the comments at the blogfather’s) even he would vote for the clown over the Uterus.

UPDATE:  Now that the Trumpet is the presumptive nominee, the Democrat news media behemoth is awakening from its eight years of slumber. “The knives are being sharpened as we speak.”

Microsoft backs the Democrats

In case you were thinking about buying a new Surface tablet. You might want to think again.

“Microsoft on Friday announced that it would be making cash donations to the Democratic convention but not the Republican one. The announcement comes as advocates have increased their pressure on technology giants and other large corporations to refrain from sponsoring the Republican convention because of the rhetoric and proposed policies of GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump.”

I’m beginning to like the Trumpet. The Democrats only ever get hysterical about a GOP candidate when they’re afraid he might win. They went to sleep over Romney and McCain. They’d batter Cruz, if he had a better chance of the nomination. Trump is still ahead. And he would piss all over the Democrats.

Barry Hussein the job creator

Yes! Thousands of new jobs with his mouth alone. And not just new bureaucrats.

“The National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) has released a new report that reveals more than 100,000 jobs in gun-related industries were created in the last 7 years.

“The NSSF reports that in 2008 the number of jobs in firearms-related industries was 166,200. In 2015 that number jumped to 287,986, for an additional 121,786 jobs or an increase of 73%.”

I say that’s change we can believe in!

UPDATE:  Otherwise, he’s the first president not to see a single year of 3% GDP growth. Although I think you could thank his party—Pelosi, Reid, etc.— for most of the problem.
