“‘The only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun,’ [Brevard County, Florida, sheriff Wayne] Ivey said.
“He urged residents to arm themselves as a first line of defense against an active shooter.” Better than quaking or “sheltering in place,” until the SWAT team finally gets its camo and boots on.
Ivey’s not the only one who’s fed up with our Barry Hussein’s and his party’s constant anti-gun refrain. Leading to more and more restrictive gun registration schemes. You know, instead of recognizing terrorism.
“‘You are not our potentate, sir. You are our servant,’ says Randy Kennedy, police chief of Hughes Springs, a north Texas town east of Dallas.
Get it, Barry? These are the guys who would have to enforce your and the Hildabeast’s ultimate dream of confiscation.

Time was only the elite had weapons. Guess who wants to return to those days?
Of course our half-wit president and his lapdog media cronies will do their best to use the San Bernadino murders to try and disarm the law-abiding. Oh, yes, that will help, no doubt. Common sense has never been one of His Putz’s strong points. Nor of his pals at the WaPo and NYT. Fortunately neither the congress nor the courts will follow their, uh, leadership on guns.
In fact, this is probably the best time ever to go out to your local range, indoors or out, rent a gun (pistol or rifle makes no difference) and learn how to defend yourself and your loved ones. Most ranges will “rent” the weapon for free and only charge you for the ammunition it “eats,” as well as normal range fees.
Mr. B. and I are headed out to Liberty Hill (apt name) on Sunday for the second meeting of the Jewish Rifle & Pistol Club of Central Texas. Weather forecast is good enough. We’ll get in a little dry-firing beforehand so our aim won’t be so far off this time and, as usual, pretend the paper target is a Jihadi come calling. Or, in the case of San Bernadino, a Jihadi husband-and-wife team.
Nowadays, with a Muslim-lovin’ twit in the White House, you never know. Better prepared than sorry. They’d be crazy to try it in Texas, but they’re crazy to begin with.
UPDATE: Go get ’em, Ted: “You don’t get rid of the bad guys by getting rid of our guns. You get rid of the bad guys by using our guns.”
MORE: Time to get a concealed-carry permit. But the laws are complicated.

I figure it’s a faulty sight picture. I’d say the sights were off except that they’re fixed, so that’s impossible. Last week I hit the head of my paper Jihadi four times out of six with our .38 Smith & Wesson police special revolver.
Today at our weekly target shoot at Red’s in South Austin, I had trouble getting all six in the area over his right shoulder. Sheesh.
Mr. B. was likewise challenged by the .38 and our Ruger semi-auto .22 pistol with his aiming points of the center mass and diamond targets. I was more successful with the .22, but by all rights it ought to translate to the .38 and it didn’t. Two steps forwards and one back, quoth Mr. B. Sounds about right.
One bright spot: four nubile college girls showed up to talk about possibly renting a Glock and having at the targets for the first time. After some instruction of course. Red’s is, after all, the home of the Austin branch of the Sure Shots, the Women’s Pistol League of Texas.
“You mean we get to hold it?” one of them squealed as the clerk went to fetch their prospective 9mm. As the bumper stickers say: Don’t mess with Texas women.

Yep. His Earness finally has listened to reason. He’s demilitarizing the police. Officer Friendly will no long seem to be on a war footing everytime he takes to the streets in numbers of more than two.
“Items on the prohibited list include armored tracked vehicles, weaponized aircraft and vehicles, .50-caliber firearms and ammo, bayonets, and camouflage.”
It would be better to say goodbye to the MRAPS as well. It probably won’t be goodbye to the helmets and black uniforms, nor all of the automatic rifles (the s0-called “machine guns” of gun-ignorant reporters and editors). But, in general, our Barry Hussein is giving the police back their civilian look and role.
Which some of them won’t like, of course. They like playing soldier. But it really is all to the good. Maybe now they can start to reclaim some of the respect and even love their military appearance has cost them.

If I can get Mr. B. up, we’re going target shooting again this morning. We’re getting better, with the Ruger .22 semi-auto and my old .38 Smith & Wesson revolver. He likes the latter best, finally getting used to the double-action trigger. Says it looks more menacing than the Ruger.
I like the way the .38 smokes in the aftermath of each round. Mostly from the cylinder rather than the barrel, but I’ll take it. Now to see if we can get most of our rounds in the center, though center mass is pretty good. Just like to get more accurate. Before we move up to a 1911 and its bigger kick.
UPDATE: I love the smell of cordite in the morning. Heh. Lots of center-mass for Mr. B. and most of my .38 rounds in the silhouette’s head. Good work. Chatted about possible dove and deer hunting next fall and winter.
