Barry’s double game with Israel

He’s got their back. Publicly. Privately, he’s intent on making sure Hamas lives to shoot rockets another day. And the easiest way to do that is block any Israeli move to send troops into Gaza to clean out the rat’s nest and the rocket arsenals the air strikes have missed. Probably a lot.

No military campaign in history was won from the air—except the nuke dropped on Japan and that still took a second one. Nukes, we can hope, are off the table here. But when Iran, which already is sending more rockets to Hamas, gets its nukes, well… Now is the time to put Hamas out of the rocket business.

But Barry is making sure Bibi doesn’t do that. So far, Bibi is obeying. I wonder what sword Barry’s holding over Bibi’s neck? And how long it will be before Bibi dodges out of the way?

In World War II, the allies also used the phrase “pinpoint bombing” as the IAF does now. But that’s just public relations. There is no such thing. The only way to get all those rocket arsenals is to go in, preferably on foot, find them and blow them up.

Otherwise, this whole thing will have been essentially for nothing. The Hamas are religious fanatics. What do they care for demolished buildings? The IAF could level the whole city and still not hit all the rocket caches. They have to be rooted out by infantry, with the inevitable deaths and cripplings.

And Jerusalem must be willing to defy Barry and the international screamers to honor their IDF casualties by not stopping until the job is done.

Another nice loser pushes us into the fire this time

My mother-in-law said it best, if somewhat sheepishly at using the phrase. Williard, she said, had no balls. No kidding.

That was back in August. I knew she had him pegged after his “me too” approach to Barry’s foreign policy assertions in the third debate. He was just another nice loser, as Thomas Sowell says.

Aided and abetted by obvious Democrat fraud in Philadelphia, Cleveland and Chicago—and possibly Florida’s Gold Coast, as well—which the Republican Party curiously is not protesting. Almost makes you think they  like to lose, they do it so often.

But Sowell, a conservative black economics professor and disciple in his youth of free marketeer Milton Friedman, says their 2012 loss could be disastrous:

“Quite aside from the immediate effects of particular policies, Barack Obama has repeatedly circumvented the laws, including the Constitution of the United States, in ways and on a scale that pushes this nation in the direction of arbitrary one-man rule….

“Obama will now also have more ‘flexibility,’ as he told Russian president Dmitri Medvedev, to transform the international order, where he has long shown that he thinks America has too much power and influence. A nuclear Iran can change that. Forever.

“Have you noticed how many of our enemies in other countries have been rooting for Obama? You or your children may yet have reason to recall that as a bitter memory of a warning sign ignored on Election Day in 2012.”

Let’s hope Sowell is too cynical by half. Hope may be all we have left.

UPDATE:  So much for hope. Barry said he had Israel’s back. He lied. His support for Israel’s self-defense lasted just 48 hours. His public support, that is.

By my reading of the journo tea leaves, he set private guidelines on the first day of U.S. Senate support: i.e. he wants no ground invasion of Gaza to clean out the Hamas rat’s nest and says, BTW, don’t bomb too long, Bibi, ’cause it might endanger the “two-state solution.”

Even W (a veteran who knows military campaigns are not won from the air) waited for a week or two of Gaza ground scouring by the IDF before asking for withdrawal.

UPDATE:  Sure enough, Barry and the Hildabeast pushed Bibi into accepting a ceasefire in which the Brotherhood will decide who the violators are and when. I wonder how much of our tax money Egypt has been promised, not to mention Hamas. Hardly matters. It won’t last a week, if that long, and Bibi’s government may collapse before then.

Good luck to the IDF

I wish it wasn’t necessary to put the brave young men and women of the Israel Defense Forces in harm’s way in Gaza, but after the terrorists of Hamas and its ragtag hangers-on fired rockets acquired from Iran at Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, it seems to be necessary.

According to Austin’s private, open-source intelligence company Stratfor,

“….during Cast Lead [in 2008], they operated at night and creat[ed] their own crossing points [into Gaza] as opposed to using previously established points.

“They also relied heavily upon combat engineers, armored construction equipment including unmanned D9 bulldozers, and dog teams to establish their own avenues of approach instead of using common routes through Gaza.

“Ground units also worked in heavy conjunction with air assets for reconnaissance and close air support, and had access to comprehensive artillery support. This allowed them to avoid improvised explosive devices, heavily mined primary access routes, ambushes and counterattacks militants had planned near the assumed IDF approaches.”

But they’re bound to face surprises this time which could see more of them killed and crippled, each one a major tragedy for their immediate family and everyone in such a small country.

“Already in this round of fighting, unconfirmed reports have emerged saying that militants are using [shoulder-fired ground-to-air anti-aircraft missiles]. If these rumors are true, it could force a more limited role for rotary-wing air support as well as anti-tank guided missiles and thus seriously hamper the firepower, cover and protection provided by armor.”

UPDATE:  Meanwhile, the IDF asks bloggers and news media not to say exactly where one of these unguided Hamas rockets lands, which might help them improve their targeting. Done.

The ladies compartment

In addition to the lurch to Sharia law via Commissar Barry’s Islamist pals in the Muslim Brotherhood, Egypt is not a nice place for women in other ways.

Not only do they not provide free contraceptives and legal abortion (single American women who voted for Barry take especial note) but all women can expect to be groped in public.

Hence the ladies compartment on the Cairo subways.

“In general,” writes Israeli blogger Lisa Goldman, sexual harassment in Egypt is annoying and a bit oppressive, but not nearly as bad as I had expected – and certainly no worse than the harassment I experienced while traveling in India…”

From what I’ve heard over the years from women journalists traveling on the Mexico City subways they could use a ladies compartment there, too. But I don’t think Mexico’s machismo culture is likely to permit any.

If America is supposedly so sexist, as Commissar Barry and Boob Biden (war on women, etc.) and the Left constantly tell us via their media and political propaganda, how come being molested on public transportation isn’t a problem here?

“It’s party time, chumps”

This is a funny video. Also a weird video. But weird can be funny, so long as it’s not mean or ugly. No pejoratives were used in the making of this video, unlike so much of the toxicity that passes for “culture” in America today.

The quote of the headline is put in Romney’s mouth in the video, and it’s very appropriate considering what half the electorate did to him on Tuesday. They rejected his sunny optimism and a good chance at lower unemployment and renewed prosperity and, instead, opted for four more dreary years of the Liar President and his nasty, divisive politics.

It’s party time, chumps: half celebration, half wake in the new divided states of America.

Now we’ll see what Barry has (secretly) planned for us and endure what he has promised:  the death of the coal industry and subsequent astronomical electric rates burdening business and the middle class; higher gasoline prices for everyone as the EPA further undercuts our oil industry; the most expensive and intrusive entitlement ever in Obamacare; a further downsizing of our Navy, Army, Marines and Air Force; and who knows what mischief to come in the Middle East.

Nothing good for Israel, I’m sure. Get ready for a nuclear Iran and a dramatic shift in the balance of world power to the dictators King Barry loves so much.

UPDATE:  Today, I’m sure we’ll be assaulted with the usual blather about why Romney lost. Republicans need to be more “Progressive,” tune in to women and Hispanics, and blah, blah, blah.

It’s really much more simple. As my mother-in-law said months ago, Willard had no balls. He let Barry get off on Benghazi instead of hammering him for lying to the world. That and the fact that half the electorate apparently still get their views from the Obamedia.

Nukes to Israel by boat, truck or train (or drone)

“Mr. Biden said, in effect: Don’t worry. Even if Iran gets fissile material, it needs something to put it in.

“But the facts are quite different. Once any nuclear wannabe gets 160 pounds of uranium enriched to 80% U-235 (the enrichment level of the Hiroshima bomb and of South Africa’s Melba) he has a weapon.”

Letter to the editor of the Wall Street Journal today by Thomas C. Reed, secretary of the Air Force for presidents Ford and Carter. Read it all.

Training the jaws that will bite you

Joey Hairplugs’ pathetic vice presidential “debate” performance the other night was useful in at least one way, as Sultan Knish shows.

Joey let slip that the Pentagon is aiding and training Syria’s Islamist rebels. You know, the Muslim Brotherhood. Again. Oh goody. And I’m sure they will deny everything when the Brotherhood decides to attack Israel and/or us.

UPDATE:  Indeed, it seems we have been arming them, through Benghazi, Libya, and the slain American ambassador may been involved.
