Tax deadbeat Al Sharpton

“When he speaks at public colleges and universities, Al Sharpton flies first-class, stays in upscale hotels, travels to events in a chauffeured vehicle, and often brings a bodyguard or aide with him. He makes these demands on taxpayer-funded institutions, despite owing as much as $4.5 million in unpaid taxes and penalties.”

And, don’t forget, the rev with the old-fashioned Negro-style “conked” hairdo, is Barry Hussein’s special pal who often stays at the White House. So much for the rule of law, eh Barry? Doesn’t apply to your friends, we guess.

Bring out your dead

Barry Hussein tried and failed to defeat Bibi, but he isn’t likely to have learned anything from it, much less to dispose of his Iran policy which has done the impossible: united Israel and the Arabs.

It isn’t Mr. Obama’s habit to admit error, or to be gracious to his opponents, but it would serve the interests of both nations if he were. Israel’s raucous democracy is imperfect, like America’s, but it is the only reliable one in the bloody cauldron of the Middle East.”

The curious thing, as Mr. Goon says, was that even the exit polls showed Bibi losing, all of them having almost the same numerical result. As if the fix was in to sway the voters right up until the polls closed.

IRS: the coverup continues

“[IRS conservative-attacker Lois] Lerner went after [Illinois Republican Al Salvi’s] 1996 Senate campaign with a lawsuit totaling $1.1 million — an enforcement action that was eventually thrown out of court — when she was working at the Federal Election Commission, according to Salvi.”

It became the centerpiece of news coverage of Salvi’s campaign and, thus, tarred real good with it, he lost the election to the Democrat.

The story had not been deemed newsworthy by the three broadcast networks’ evening news programs, by the New York Times or by the (WaPo].”

Of course not. Lerner is a Democrat operative.

The Democrats took your birthday cake

Mr. B. gave me a birthday card the other day—along with a package of sugar-free candy and a bottle of bubble juice with a wand for blowing bubbles, one of my favorite activities.

On the front of the card it shows a cake pedestal picked clean and the words: “The Democrats took your birthday cake.”

Inside: “They sliced it up and gave it to people who aren’t fortunate enough to have a birthday today.”

Heh.  Said he found the card in the local drug store. He didn’t see a Republican counterpart. Could be the rest of the country is as tired of the Dems as I am.

Another VA scandal looming

When the most recent VA atrocity, the “waiting-list” scandal, broke last year, His Earness’s party designed a solution to the problem in which nineteen veterans of America’s wars had died waiting months for an appointment at a VA clinic or hospital.

The new $10 billion Choice program was supposed to let veterans avoid waiting lists by choosing private doctors at VA expense—those docs, anyhow, who are willing to put up with the delayed payments and costly paperwork of the federal bureaucracy. Many docs have long shunned Medicare and for the same reason now are trying to avoid Obamacare.

I got my Choice card in the mail a few months ago, one of 8.6 million sent out since November. Having private insurance, I didn’t need it and not wishing to take the slot of some other veteran who did, I didn’t return the form to activate it. I threw away the card. Which was just as well because I seemed not to qualify, anyhow, not living at least 40 miles from a VA clinic. As usual our corrupt political class and their news media cronies trumpet their solutions while hiding the fine print.

Apparently it wouldn’t have mattered if I had lived at least 40 miles from a clinic: “A recent Veterans of Foreign Wars survey on the Veterans Choice Program found that ’80 percent of the 1,068 survey participants who reported that they either lived 40 miles from a VA medical facility or could not be seen by VA within 30 days said they were not afforded the choice to receive non-VA care.'”

Now Wormtongue appears to be backing off the Choice program entirely, by moving some of the allocated $10 billion to help shore up the VA system. Which figures. The VA health system has long been an unfulfilled promise to many veterans, one further stressed in the past two decades by forcing career-military retirees to use it.

As an old Infantry OCS pal of mine, who worked for the VA after the war, told me: When applying for anything from the VA you should treat the multitude of requested form submissions as a hobby. With luck you’ll eventually get somewhere. Maybe.

It’s good for some. Mrs. Charm’s Navy career retiree father refused to go anywhere else for treatment of his lung cancer. My Air Force retiree father wouldn’t have stepped foot in it on a bet. Pity that pols have always preferred lying to telling the truth and that Mr. Hope & Change is just another member of the mendacious pack.

Those wounded Ferguson police

I’m sorry the two Ferguson policemen were shot (one of them in the face), but even more sorry that the issue of police killings has turned from a problem many agreed needed solving to an Hussein Obama-Al Sharpton controversy. I agree the latter have made things worse, but that’s all you could really expect from them.

It’s simply past time for police across the country to begin training on how to subdue people who are resisting arrest without killing them. Then there’d have been no Ferguson rioting and probably these two wounded officers would not be. Keep up the police killings of recent years and there’ll be more shootings of police. Ipso facto.

UPDATE:  Or perhaps better yet, as JAY352 says in the comments here: the bar on use of force needs to be raised.
