On The Other Hand

There is always and forever the cynical Spengler view of interests, i.e. reality versus idealism:

"Forget the Kosovo Albanians, the South Ossetians, the Abkhazians, Saakashvili and the Dalai Lama. These are relics of an older world that might deserve their own theme park, but not their own state…"

HYPE, The Obama Effect

Couple of trailers here worth watching for a new flicker critical of Baby Barry. To criticise this new incarnation of Al Sharpton, without being smeared as racist, you need handsome and articulate black faces, and this flick has plenty of them. Two bestselling critical books & one soon-to-be-released critical movie, so far. Are we at critical mass yet? Do we have liftoff?

UPDATE:  I don’t watch the rube tube, so I missed the kinda, sorta Mac-Baby Barry "debate" last night. I’m still waiting for BB to agree to a face-to-face town hall with Mac. Fat chance.

A laugher

Jerome R. Corsi’s new, critical book on Baby Barry, The Obama Nation, Leftist Politics and the Cult of Personality is riding high atop the NYT’s bestseller list. But you wouldn’t know it if you only visited his book’s Amazon site. In just twelve days, the "review" count has jumped from sixty-four to seven hundred and fifty-eight. Of course, they’re not really reviews. It’s a political battle between the Barry lovers and the Barry haters. You can tell because the reviews are mostly five stars or one stars. So far the one stars are winning, by a margin of two hundred. It’s a hoot, but it’s also irrelevant. You need to look under Product Details, where it shows that the book is No. 2 among Amazon bestsellers. Nice try, Barry lovers. Better luck next time. Bye, bye Barry.

Palin for veep

Finally, I picked the runaway choice (at least at this hour) in an Instapundit poll: Sarah Palin for Mac’s VP. She makes the Repub ticket "exciting," as Baby Barry supposedly is, and being governor of Alaska, she brings executive experience, as well. I would like Lieberman, just because I like him, but he’s a bit of a retread at this point. I also like Giuliani, who I originally favored for the nomination, but he may be too liberal. I just don’t see any downside with Palin, who is a conservative who brings lots of advantages–such as attracting Hilarity’s female base, for one thing.

Surprise, surprise

"Senator Obama’s proposed ‘tax cuts for the middle class’ are actually marginal rate hikes in disguise."

Via Cobb.

Ah, but it may be too late. Afterall, "he is building a religion." Get your pendant keychains now.

Live from the Georgian government

The Georgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs is live-blogging on Blogger, apparently as a solution to early denial-of-service hacking of its servers by the Russians. It helps to have a map, and Georgian news agency link, which, along with the blog entries, show that Russian talk of a halt to its invasion is mainly propaganda. Their bombing and killing continue.

UPDATE:  Indeed, Georgia calls B.S. on Russian and media reports:

"Russian occupation forces are fully operational in Georgia with at least 12,000 troops throughout the country, many of them outside of Abkhazia and South Ossetia. This is in no way represents a ‘halt to military operations’ or a ‘halt to war’ as many media outlets are reporting."

CNN News Alerts

I knew the first time I got one of these new malware creations in the email that I hadn’t signed up for it because I despise CNN. The second time I read some of the "headlines," stuff designed as grabbers, like the death of an entire major league baseball team in a plane crash. I Googled the item just to be sure, found nothing and spiked the email. Dustbury is getting a lot more of them than I am.
