No, she’s not from Texas. But here’s a Miss America candidate we can all get behind, a real Utah National Guard medic and Afghanistan veteran. Outlaw 13 at Guidons, Guidons, Guidons! shows how.

Hero vs Hilarity

I like John McCain, who’s winning with 65 percent of the votes counted in today’s New Hampshire Repub primary. I just think he’s too liberal to get enough Repub and Indy votes to be elected president. Hilarity, who is edging out Obama, would be my choice for the Dems. She’d be a lot easier to beat than the demagogue from South Chicago. But, mainly, watching Iowa’s winners lose out this time (the Huckster is about 18 points behind Romney who is in second place), it looks like these races are far from decided, and that’s probably a good thing. Next up, South Carolina.

Ohio State’s loss

Mr. B. decided last night just before the BCS championship game that he was for Ohio State. He drew up a little "Go Buckeyes!" poster which he would wave from time to time. Until the other OSU fell behind. For once, though, he didn’t switch loyalties to the winning team. He had to go to bed at the half because of today’s return to school after Christmas break. When I told him the final score this morning, as I was getting him up, he groaned and pulled the covers over his head.

Munch in a crunch

Indeed used to be the big MSM favorite. It was word one in the write-with-authority sweepstakes. Indeed, it used to show up with regularity as a sentence-beginner. Still does, now and then, but less so than before. These days all fingers are crawling to munch. Nobody chews or eats, anymore. They munch. For some reason it annoys me. Worse even than scrambling. Indeed, I have already had enough of munch.

Another lying politico who never served

This one (in California, of course) got even more inventive than most of these slugs and awarded himself a Medal of Honor. If that wasn’t cheeky enough, his lawyer is now claiming he has a right to lie about military service and valor awards despite a federal law making it a crime to do so. Some folks have absolutely no shame.

That breath of fresh air

Obama-rama’s free ride is really taking off. So far, nobody is asking how his universal health care program will be any less bankrupting than, say, Medicare. What good it will do to negotiate with terrorists, etc., etc. Dr. Helen sees the questions but can only "hope (they) will be answered prior to the election." Don’t hold your breath.
