Ramadan: Month of Jihad

Added Robert Spencer: “That Muslims have made great contributions to America (beyond spurring tremendous developments in airline security, that is) is simply an unquestionable dogma of our silly and stupid age;

“no one needs ask the President for examples, because those contributions are taken as axiomatic, with only ‘Islamophobes’ questioning them. That there aren’t any actual such contributions is an inconvenient fact, to be sure, but one so thoroughly obscured by propaganda that everyone feels it can be safely ignored.”

UPDATE:  Tel Aviv got the latest Muslim “contribution,”the first Ramadan attack: 4 dead, 11 seriously wounded. The Arabs and Muslims who call themselves Palestinians celebrated.

MORE: Orlando, Florida gay dance club shot up by mass murderer. ISIS taking credit. The second Ramadan attack:  20 dead, 42 wounded. Now that’s a religious holiday. Make that “at least” 50 dead and 53 wounded, according to Fox. And shooter of Afghan origin. Now, now, let’s not be Islamophobic, y’all.

If you don’t want to study white writers, don’t major in English

“The petition whines that ‘a year spent around a seminar table where the literary contributions of women, people of color, and queer folk are absent actively harms all students, regardless of their identity.'”

This is at Yale U., which costs more than $40,000 a year to attend. For some rich daddies that might be a small price to pay to get rid of the obnoxious child who would write this stupid petition for exemption from Shakespeare, et al. Not that there aren’t plenty of second- and third-rate queer, women and black and Hispanic writers to replace them with. A few good ones. Very few.

But face it folks most English majors are not only whiners, sloppy dressers, seldom bathers and nose-pickers, they are getting a degree that will require talking their way into a job. Any job. I remember. I majored in English.

Promoting inequality: the college barrier

Instapundit is pretty savvy for a law school professor.He sees the college game for what it is, a barrier against the poor’s chances of rising above their station. Yes, even in America.

Wormtongue says he wants to send everyone to college. That might work. When all have the degree it will be pretty worthless. Except then, even more than now, where you got it would reconstitute the barrier.

Sure the Ivy League is a big deal even today but that has its limits. I tell Mr. B. that as a native Texan he should play that for all it’s worth in Texas, the land of opportunity compared to the rest of the country’s economic blight thanks to the Democrat Party.

But when it comes to Yale or Harvard the natives here really don’t give a shit. They are far more impressed by a Texas school, public or private. And inequality? Shoot, the poor have always been with us.

Adios, Cassius Clay

His death really isn’t a surprise. His head injuries from boxing could have done him in years ago. But septic shock from a respiratory ailment (according to the ever-fallible snooze media) seems indicative of something besides the usual truth that hospitals are pretty dangerous places.

In the face of the usual storm of encomiums for a celebrity, let me add my iconoclastic two cents. He was a good boxer with a big mouth and a talent for self-promotion. I really did like watching him fight and laughing at his antics. He got the shit beat out of him occasionally and that was sad.

And his head injuries limited him ever after. But then I remember he dodged the draft without consequences. Not that many others didn’t as well. I didn’t like that either. But it didn’t endear him to me. The Muslim conversion was pretty stupid, about what you’d expect from a not-very-well educated American black. And the anti-Semitism that has flowed from it is what you get from Muslims.

His was complicated by having a Jewish grandson.

Adios, Cassius Clay/Muhammad Ali. Enjoy perfect health in the hereafter where you will undoubtedly learn, if you pay attention, that Mighty Mo was a fraud all along. And, no, you don’t get any virgins or raisins.
