The Democrat economy’s latest decline

The Democrats, now firmly aligned with the gentry urban greens of both coasts instead of the Midwest working classes they once claimed to represent, saw the latest fruits of their, ahem, labor, in the first quarter.

“President Obama’s own Administration officially reports that the U.S. economy DECLINED by 1% in the first quarter of this year. That follows 1.9% reported total annual growth for all of 2013. The U.S. economy sustained a real rate of economic growth of 3.3% from 1945 to 1973, and achieved the same 3.3% sustained real growth from 1982 to 2007.”

Then you-know-who got elected president and bingo! Although lots of people now blame him as the worst president since World War II, they really ought to blame his party. He has faithfully signed off on all of their unprecedented regulations and tax boosts for business and consumers. So it’s no surprise the Democrat jobless recovery is in decline once more.

Unemployment, meanwhile, is far higher than the 8 percent lie the feds and their news media allies tell, closer to twice that and maybe more. Highest of all among blacks and other minorities.

Core Democrat supporters are down on their own political class, though they have only themselves and their “progressive” ideology to blame. They voted for these clowns.

UPDATE:  If the feds and their media cronies were honest (you wish) they’d be admitting we’re already in another recession. Even that we never left the first one and, as some contend, we’re actually in the second Great Depression. But, of course, they prefer to try to help the Democrats survive the November elections.

Children are a major disappointment

Children are a major disappointment in most cases, which is why I say that the modern ideology of parenting is baloney. People who don’t have them aren’t missing anything they really need. They’re not helping keep the race in business, no, but they’re not suffering for it either.

Children are mainly hard work and lots of expense and very little return. Other than the tax write-off, which ought to be a whole lot bigger. They start off well enough, even amusing, but they soon grow into indifferent adolescents and, eventually, contrary adults who forget all about who brung ’em.

I used to wonder why my parents, especially my mother, kept bugging me to have children. Now I know. They were getting even.

The feds’ party: Democrats

Why does the federal government and its economy-killing regulations keep growing? Because it is the government of the Democrats, by the Democrats and for the Democrats. And people keep voting Democrat.

“The Democratic party today is, quite simply, the party of government and the natural home of the managerial class. It is no accident, as the Marxists say, that the National Treasury Employees Union, which represents the IRS, gave 94 percent of its political donations during the 2012 election cycle to Democratic candidates openly at war with the Tea Party — the same group singled out by Lois Lerner. The American Federation of Government Employees, which represents the VA, gave 97 percent of its donations to Democrats at the national level and 100 percent to Democrats at the state level.”

Why you must not move to Texas

First, because we have too many immigrants already and only a small fraction of them have come from South of the border. Second, because every story you’ve ever heard about how great it is here was a lie. Plain and simple. We have fire ants in every back yard, scorpions, rattlesnakes and tarantulas all over the place, and cockroaches as big as your hand. And there’s more:

As TexasDoubleDoc, a commenter at Instapundit, says: “The grocery stores only stock potato chips and coke, the roads are full of potholes, and gunfights break out every twenty minutes. The schools are in shambles, there are regular book-burnings, and everyone is forced to attend [a Baptist church] every weekend.

“Women have zero rights here, gays are stoned in the town square, and minorities must apply skin whiteners to blend in and avoid violent mobs. There is no true ‘nighttime’ here, as Texans frequently burn large open swaths of oil for fun. And EVERYONE rides a horse, so it stinks to high heaven from all the manure on the disintegrating roads.”

Plus which, there are no more jobs left anymore. None at all. Zip. All taken. So do us all a big favor and stay the hell away. Pretty please.

Still more Democrat regulations

Driving one of Mr. B.’s cronies home from an afternoon of video games the other day, I would glance now and then at his iPhone which was displaying a GPS app giving directions.

Poor kid didn’t even know his address, only that it was typed into the app by his mother. The directions were pretty plain. I had no trouble seeing them as he held the phone up for me. The arrows indicating which way to turn were nice and big and black.

The Democrats, however, don’t like these things. They don’t like anything except what they approve and so Wormtongue and his minions are bringing  the law to these apps. And you, of course, if you use them. Doesn’t everyone?

Distracting, they say. Could cause accidents, they say. Not enough graft for them, I say. Unless they have a new regulation to raise the bidding on exceptions. Also known as bribes. The way Obamacare gives exceptions to labor unions and others who’ll vote the Democrat way.

Says Instapundit: “It has the support of automakers because they want to keep charging you $2000 for a nav system that’s not as good as your smartphone.”

It’s about regulating competition, not safety for me and thee. The feds don’t care about your stinking safety. Pretty soon you’ll need to hold the phones lower down so passing cops can’t see them and demand their cut by issuing an expensive ticket. Which will make glancing at them more dangerous.

Shillary’s poor-mouth

She left the White House “dead broke,” she wants us to believe, she whose cronies infamously stole furniture and accessories and absconded with the D key from every desktop computer to harass the incoming Republicans.

As NRO’s Jim Geraghty scoffs:

“A woman with a net worth of $200 million, who gives speeches to Goldman Sachs for $200,000 each, is perhaps the single least plausible populist of all time. She may attempt to pose as this reform-minded outsider who will shake up ‘The System,’ when she is perhaps the personification of ‘The System.’…”

No perhaps about it, Jim. If the Queen of Benghazi wins in 2016, as she very probably will, we can expect a continuation of the now 6-year jobless recovery, more bureaucracy-expanding, economy-killing business regulations, and plenty of foreign appeasement—with an occasional cruise missile thrown to make her look tough. While she rakes in the dough (and the graft).

That’s how Slick Willie did it. Speaking of which… Those White House interns better watch out. He may be senile now but he’s still unzipped.

Ride-share in Austin? You could lose your car

The regulators and the regulated are at it again, the former protecting the latter from competition, instead of, you know, helping the consumer. Ha, ha. Regulation is never about the consumer. That’s just political window dressing.

Try to offer ride-sharing service here in Austin via the Lyft or Uber apps? You could lose your car. Simple as that. No consumer protection here, fella, just competition protection.

As the Instapundit says, when the market rules, the opportunities for graft decline. And the regulators can’t have that. Not even in Texas. No sirree.
