Esti Ginsberg: Rule 5

The 19-year-old Israeli model  is serving her obligated time in the IDF.

Dear Charlie

In the title tale of my short story collection Leaving the Alamo: Texas Stories After Vietnam (newly available for the Kindle at 99 cents a copy) the ghost of Alamo commander Lieutenant Colonel William Barret Travis laments the death of his son Charlie:

“He thought of Charlie whose story he had read in old newspapers: failed at politics, cashiered from the Army, disgraced and adrift on the land. Dear Charlie.”

The sensational incident that disgraced Captain Charles Edward Travis, his dramatic Army courts martial for “conduct unbecoming…,” occurred one hundred fifty-five years ago today, March 15, 1856, at Fort Mason in the Hill Country, southwest of Austin. He died of tuberculosis four years later.

Girls with guns: Rule 5

Speaking of Israel, let’s hear it for the women of the IDF. Not always what you’d expect. These gals come at you directly. They don’t sneak into your house at night and murder your toddlers and babies in their sleep.

UPDATE: The New York Times and CNN coverup, adding insult to infanticide, while Palestinians in Gaza danced in the streets and handed out candy. You know, like on 9/11.

Mystery in Germany

Kosovo gunman yells “Allahu Akbar!”

Obama says motive mystifying.

(Hint: 80 percent of Kosovo is Muslim.)

UPDATE:  Mystery solved. Big surprise, right?

We can only hope the Pentagon finally learns something (you’d think the Fort Hood massacre might have given them a clue) and starts providing some meaningful security for the troops.

ROTC still not welcome

They hiss and they jeer and they heckle, especially at Columbia U., where the Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell opposition to ROTC was just an excuse. Now there’s a big surprise.

Multi-cultie triumph (boycott the military, now)

The extraordinary conclusion of every branch of the American armed forces: to cover-up Army Major Nidal Malik Hasan’s  repeated, self-professed Jihadi beliefs as a factor in his killing of 13 and wounding of 32 at Fort Hood in 2009.

Obviously, politics outweighs command responsibility, to the point where your commander will needlessly endanger your life. Take my advice, guys, this is not the time to enlist, or to accept a commission.  You should boycott these chickenshit bastards until they reform themselves.

Twenty years after it became a common motif in the American legacy media, and despite its recent denunciation as a divisive promoter of segregation, intolerance (and in Hasan’s case official blindness) by the governments of Britain, France and Germany, multiculturalism has become official U.S. dogma.

STICKS AND STONES. Dallas County multiculturalism in action.

P3 at Whidbey

An example of the nephew’s bird at Whidbey Island NAS which I know he hopes to fly again one day.

P3TOa

UPDATE:  Alas, the nephew’s health problems prevented him from getting back on the flight deck. After a stint with Naval Intelligence, another on the USS Enterprise and finally managing a ROTC program, he got out of the Navy. Seems happier, though I bet he misses his P3.
