9mm vs 7.62

Two of those five slain Chattanooga military recruiters apparently were not defenseless. They were risking their careers carrying at least one unauthorized 9mm pistol and another kind not identified. They used them to defend themselves and others in returning the Jihadi’s AK-47 semi-auto rifle fire.

Of course they were at a disadvantage because they were ambushed. They didn’t know their lives were about to be on the line. And they were outgunned. The 9mm round has a slightly larger diameter than the  7.62 rifle bullet but the latter has more than twice the muzzle velocity and consequently more than four times as much hitting power. Explained here.

Nice to see post-attack gun sales rising and gun-owning citizens protecting recruiters while Barry Hussein’s Pentagon dithers (what else?) about legally arming them. It took him five days to authorize flying flags at half-staff. So far, all the recruiters who don’t carry illegally have got are those weenie “gun-free zone” decals on their front doors, which only impress the gun-grabbers.

UPDATE:  Barry Hussein’s “soldiers” ask the civilian guards to stop it. Good thing they can’t order them to stop it.

Terrorism in Tennessee

Another blood-thirsty jihadi, another sha’ria lover and wannabe kiddie diddler, goat-f**ker and wife-beater. And four dead Marines and a dead sailor at a military recruiting center.

More talk and bureaucratic promises you can bet will come to nothing, swept under the federal rug by the usual suspects. Since, as Gov. Jindal says, we can’t defeat Muslim evil without first recognizing that it exists. More raucous decrying of modern leftist practice of putting up gun-free signs—effectively inviting killers not to worry about armed self-defense—while declining to surreptitiously allow arms inside.

Reminded me of when I managed Army recruiters in 1970-71 from a 4-state recruiting command headquarters in West Virginia. None of us were armed, even at that time of heightened anger at the military over the Vietnam War thanks to lying public testimony by the likes of John Kerry.

But we were not stupid enough to advertise the fact to every idiot who might come calling—like everyone from Navy and Marine recruiters to kindergartners is forced by stupid politicians to do today. Damn their eyes!

UPDATE:  The jihadi schmuck might have been directed by ISIS. More. And you can probably thank both of them for a continuation of this noted increase.

MORE:  Meanwhile, the Democrat news media and the bureaucrats pretend the killer’s motive is still a mystery. Does anyone respect these idiots any more? Anyone with a grade-school education? They have no shame. At least Ted gets it.

Obama priority: diversity not security

“At a time when global terrorism is resurgent, when the Middle East is burning, when Russian boots are marching, when China is ramping up its military and Iran is on the verge of going nuclear, is it really a good idea to ask the CIA to concentrate on achieving a 30% minority quota in the agency’s leadership ranks?”

Sure it is, when your name is Barry Hussein Obama and going easy on ISIS and other jihadis and hard on the Kurds and Israelis is your game. After all, even NASA has been instructed to spend its time “reaching out” to Muslims. And the new CIA director is the scowling John Brennan, an Arabist, career bureaucrat and longtime specialist in obfuscating the Islamist threat.

Because turning the U.S. inside out is what our Little Barry is all about. He was, after all, a red-diaper baby, and so, as Judicial Watch has lately discovered, was his longtime chief adviser Valerie Jarrett. And they don’t seem to have lost any of it.

The Obama Betrayal

No, not the one about keeping your doctor or your health insurance, blatant as those lies were. Rather, Our Little Barry’s decision to use Vietnam as a model and turn the presidential back on Iraq.

“President Obama’s 2011 abandonment of Iraq was a betrayal of America’s promises to millions of Iraqi men, women and children. The ISIS victories, and the horrors that follow them, are a direct result of that betrayal. As Ismail said to me: ‘They shouldn’t leave us like that.’”

It’s not just you, Ismail. It’s American soldiers who get left as well.

Epitaph on a politician

Here richly, with ridiculous display,

The Politician’s corpse was laid away.

While all of his acquaintance sneered and slanged

I wept: for I had longed to see him hanged.

— Hilaire Belloc’s “Epitaph on the Politician.”

You can imagine who I’d like to see here. But you’ll have to imagine. I’m not going to sic the feds on myself.

UPDATE:  Clarence Darrow was more circumspect: “I have never killed a man, but I have read many obituaries with great pleasure.”

In Observance

This year we have the sad duty to observe Memorial Day in remembrance of two generations of American soldiers whose lives were thrown away on distant battlefields by American politicians:  In Viet Nam and Iraq.

As Richard Fernandez explains: “The collapse in the Middle East feels like Black April, 1975, the month South Vietnam fell. And it should, because just as the collapse of Saigon did not happen in Black April, but in a political American decision to allow South Vietnam to fall after a ‘decent interval’, so also is the ongoing collapse rooted, not in the recent tactical mistakes of the White House, but in the grand strategic decision president Obama made when he assumed office…”

Militarily, the good old USA is not what it was and may never be again. Nobody, certainly not in the Middle East, trusts us anymore. Nor should they. Today, only about one half of 1 percent of the American population serves. Soldiers have no political clout whatsoever.

Indeed, joining the micro-managed, all-PC American military today—for any reason other than to repel a direct attack on the homeland—really isn’t advisable. It’s just slow-motion suicide. Deployment, perhaps, to the latest short-lived “commitment.” Some civilian flag-waving back home for a minute or two and then…forgotten.

UPDATE:  Kept hearing Happy Memorial Day Weekend, a civilian salutation bespeaking bar-b-ques and whatnot. Memorial Day really is about dead soldiers. So it’s like hearing Happy Dead Soldiers day. Disgusting.
